Chef Mickey worth it?

We are planning to get the Disney Visa Rewards Card and should be able to meet the fab 5 at the epcot meet & greet for cardholders. Would you still book Chef Mickey? We have a lot of character meals booked...but I'm looking at them as a way to not have to stand in lines to see them. Thoughts and insights for a first-timer?

Nope. One of the worst meals on property. My daughter got sick last time. She's 6 and I must admit it's pretty funny to hear her when I say "we are going to Chef Mickey's." The "please no!" gets me every time.

"Worth it" questions are tough. The food is so-so, not bad, not great. You're definitely there for the characters and the environment. If you've never done it before, I would recommend doing it at least once. We've done it 2 to 3 times, but my girls are 10 and 12 now, and the number of character meals that we attend dwindles on each of our trips...we'll probably not doing it again in favor of different food/atmosphere.

We had breakfast there. The food was alright, but it was so chaotic. We won't be back. There are too many other character meals.

It's ok. Went 2 weeks ago and really find the food similar to the rest of the buffets. The prices of these buffets are crazy but it's a way to meet the characters and get out of the heat for a bit.

We did the visa pic at Epcot last week and it was just Mickey and goofy. Don't forget the visa pic at hs if you are a Star Wars fan.

You get the fab 5, but it is loud and chaotic and the food ranges from "forgotten buffet at a Nebraska truck stop" to "refugees from war torn nations would debate eating this." Some very much value the experience. Some will defend the food.

We used to love chef mickeys for dinner. Went every year for the past ten years. Last year the food was awful & the service was awful. Won't be going back there for a long time. Shame

The food is not good at CM and it is such chaos. You don't get the fab five at the chase card holder meet and greet. It is usually a surprise on which characters are there. We went in June and it was only Minnie and Pluto. However, you can see Mickey, Goofy, & Minnie at Epcot character spot. If you want to do a character breakfast, I recommend the Tusker House in the animal kingdom. The food is much better. You get to see Donald, Daisy, Mickey, & Goofy there.

We have always enjoyed CM's as a first night celebration because the overall atmosphere in the Grand Concourse with the view of the monorail and the great interaction with the main characters really get us in the Disney mood. I don't think I'd want to do it under any other circumstances, though. We certainly don't go for the food (though we've always managed to find something on the buffet we like). So if you are already planning to meet those characters, and you don't plan to do it on your first night, I'd skip it.

We are definitely in the minority here. We love Chef Mickey's! It is a must do on our trips. Yes, it is loud and chaotic, but most character meals are. The food is not gourmet, but we find it good. Hot food is hot, cold food is cold. In more than 15 different trips, we have never had a problem with food, service, or character interaction.

We have never met more than 2 characters at the Visa M&G. Although, some people have said they have met 3, but we have never met all 5.

I have never been for lunch/ Is this on your arrival day or the first full day? We always made it our arrival day "event." Not that you have to do what we do...if you are drawn to it, I'm sure it will be great. Maybe if you are doing this, you could save the time by skipping the Visa photo thing in Epcot?

We really liked Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Yes it was loud , but it's Disney World. We liked the buffet with lots of selection. But..if you have other character meals, then you may want to skip it.

We've done the Disney visa pic a few times. Rarely is there more than a 5 min wait. Worth doing if you are there!

I would choose tusker house over chef Mickey. If you go at an off time the TH characters are great. We were lucky and got a pic with all of them together last year.

We found character meals quite stressful. chef Mickey's was one of the most stressful, as it is also very loud and chaotic, AND you can't really eat comfortably, because you don't want to miss anyone...
I would do one character meal for Donald / mickey / goofy etc - and that would be Tusker House Breakfast. It's less hectic. And I love it.
And one for Princesses, since my kids like them. (but, you know, one for whoever is the big draw M&G for you guys)
And then just meet characters

We used to love it. Would be our first dinner and our last breakfast. have to say it has really gone down hill since and is very expensive.
