Hi everyone,
I will be booking our Disney Dining reservations in a couple days for a 2 week trip in December.
But we can't decide between 2 places for dinner. Should we do Chef Mickey's or Goofy's Liberate your Appetite at Liberty Tree Tavern?

Any suggestions? I have never been to either place.

Last yr we enjoyed the Crystal Palace and we also have these Character meals planned for this trip: Cinderalla's at Grand Floridian and Donald's Safari Breakfast.

Thanks !

We haven't done Chef Mickeys but I've read mixed reviews on it (probably why we haven't done it) but we really like LTT:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 . We've been several times now, both during MNSSHP and not. My DM, who's not a huge fan of family style meals liked this enough to say she wanted to go back the next trip. The characters are good. They come by on a rotation that gives you time between them to eat. If you're there for about an hour or so, you'll probably see one or two twice. The food is quite good with the exception of the mac 'n cheese-it's a gummy, too soft, mess. (DD8 won't eat it :confused3 )

Here's a few pix that may help you decide

One main difference between eating family style or doing a buffet, with characters, is you won't miss out on the characters visiting your table while you're up getting your food at the buffet if you do family style. This can make a character buffet a little more hectic (IMHO). Since I'm the one who takes the photos, videos, and makes sure DD has her autograph book ready, it seems like I can relax more at LTT. That being said, we also really like the buffet at PF 1900, breakast and dinner.

Last year the characters were great at LTT. My DD8 was Hermoine from Harry Potter and she used her wand to make Pluto dance (his suggestion). Then he danced so much that by the time DD broke the spell poor Pluto had to rest a minute, or so.

We went to Chef Mickey for breakfast and the food was good (standard breakfast food). The character interaction was good, a fun place and loud. Liberty Tree Tavern we went to for dinner. The character interaction was the best of all the character meals we went to. The restaurant wasn't too loud. The food was just okay, nothing special. We don't have either restaurant on our list to do again when we go back in September.

I really enjoyed Chef Mickey's, and I thought the character interaction was good. I didn't find it hard to be at the table at the right times, but I could see where that would be a concern for a larger group. It is definitely a loud and somewhat chaotic atmosphere, though. The food choice was good, and we thought the buffet was well tended (i.e. nothing got too cold, etc.).

LTT is definitely quieter, and I loved seeing the characters in different costumes. We have some great pictures. I'm glad I went, if nothing else just to see it. However, beyond the rolls, salad, and stuffing, I really didn't care for the food. (Neither did my brother, 17 at the time, who is basically willing to eat anything that's not nailed down.) In 15 years of Disney trips, with at least one table service meal each day, it was the only time we left a restaurant and immediately went to a counter service to get something to eat.

We saw basically the same characters at both, if memory serves: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip n'Dale.

Chef Mickey's 100% CM is my fav character rest. The food is good (breakfast better than dinner though) and the character are always great!

I would 100% recommend LTT for dinner rather than Chef Mickey's. I have been to both (along with nearly all of the other character meals) and feel LTT has the best character interaction. The food is fantastic as well. We enjoyed it tremensely and highly recommend it. You can't go wrong.

my favorite is chef mickeys, the foods pretty good and the atmosphere is great

ok, this sold me! We have eaten here before but never during one of the parties. I want to go just to see the characters in costume, this looks sooo fun! Does anyone know if they dress special during MVMCP? We have a reservation for that in December. Thanks! :santa:

For character interaction, they seem the same to me. For food, we definitely enjoy Chef Mickey's more. LTT is quieter, but to be honest when I am going for a character meal I'm not really caring about having a quiet atmosphere...I want loud and cheery and fun.

We choose LTT over Chef Mickey every time we visit. We just don't care for Chef Mickeys and really like LTT both the character dinner and the non-character lunch

we like both, it depends on your preferance.. thanksgiving fare at LTT and misc foods a Chef MIckeys.. we always do both.
maybe looking at the menus will help..

dizneydaz .... what was the mickey head made of? We went during a MNSSHP and did not get one :( whay a bummer... sure is cute :)

LTT had great rolls with honey butter. The food was fine, but I had been stuffing my face all day and wasn't really hungry by the time we ate.
