I'm in another restaurant bind. I have one child who wants to go to Chef Mickey for lunch and another who would rather go to Crystal Palace. If you had your choice between the two restaurants, which would you choose? :confused3

My first thought is I would rather stay inside the park since this is the day we come back from our cruise and we will only have a 1/2 day at MK plus the EMH that evening, but I definitely want to go to the best overall dining experience .

I'm in some definite need of some fellow dis-members wise input.
Thanks once again!!

Definitely CP - my husband asked to eat there last year for his birthday when I asked if he would like to eat somewhere special (note we have no kids:rotfl: and I asked him if he would like to eat at Shula's or Yachtman's). He enjoyed it so much that he wants to eat there again this year for his birthday:lmao:

We ate at both, both were good. With the limited time you have at MK, personally I would do Crystal Palace to not waste time traveling. Granted, the Contemporary isn't far, but it still takes time.

I would go with Chef Mickey's since their lunch only happens during free dining, where as Crystal Palace has lunch 365 days a year. So lunch at Chef Mickey's is only for a limited amount of time.

If you don't already have reservations for both you'll end up where you can get a ressie.

CR Fan brings up a good point. Chef Mickey's is an easy monorail ride away, and seeing the CR can be as much fun as the meal itself.

Still, if it were me I'd pick CP. I haven't had lunch at CM before, but I have many times at CP and it's one of the best buffets on the entire property set in a beautiful building.

We never miss it.

Do the children want to go to these places specifically for the characters? Or is there another reason?

If it is the characters that are the draw, then definitely go to CP. You will be able to meet Mickey and friends on your cruise, but Pooh and friends are not allowed aboard due to a licensing isssue with the Milne family.

That is a wonderful tidbit of information to know. Thanks for that!
My 11 year old has just read different things about Chef Mickey, and he's anxious to try it out, but my 4 year old is all about Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. Dilemma, dilemma, but I think I'm leaning towards Crystal Palace.

(And just so everyone knows, I can either go for a 12:30 CM or a 2:30 CP. Both reservations popped up today at the same time (along with quite a few other time slots) so I grabbed them both, but I will definitely cancel one within a few hours. I am adamant about not double-booking as I know first- hand how tough it has been to get reservations the last week of September. I just hoped to get some first-hand knowledge on the two restaurants first, and then I planned to cancel one ASAP. You've all came through for me once again so a GREAT BIG THANK-YOU to all of you!) :flower3: I just love this sight. You've all been amazing.

Crystal Palace, in the park, the food is better and the characters have more 'spice'. :thumbsup2
