Planning family trip #3 to WDW in late June and we're starting to think about meals. On our last two trips we did the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's and enjoyed it. I'm tossing around the idea of trying Cape May this time around instead. My wife wants to stick with what we know and do Chef Mickey's. I'd like to try something new and go to Cape May. Any thoughts or opinions??

We love Cape May Cafe character breakfast....it is a must do each trip so I would say hands down Cape May. What you can do is make a relatively early ADR there and then afterwards walk over to Epcot or take a nice boat ride to DHS...maybe that will help your DW to sway her vote the other way ;).

We haven't done CM but LOVE Cape May. Have done it twice. The character interaction is good (Minnie, Goofy & Donald.) The variety of food is great--we always leave way too full! It's no more of a chore to get there than to any other resort TS. We take a bus from our resort to DHS & ride the boat to the BC (kids love this & so do we-it's a nice relaxing way to start the day.) We schedule an early ADR so we have time to linger & enjoy the resort. After breakfast we walk around SAB. Great spot for pics of the kids in the sand and of the BW. Then a nice walk to Epcot and we're set for the day. We like trying new places, but we've done this both previous trips.

We have been to both and would prefer CM, simply because Cape May has been awful both times we were there. It's pretty tough to screw up a buffet, but the food has been old and cold. Even tho you didn't ask, Crystal Palace has the best buffet breakfasts!!!!

I completely agree!:thumbsup2

Have only done Chef Mickey's for dinner but have gone to Cape May for breakfast every trip and love it. Food, characters and atmosphere have always been a hit for us. After breakfast it's a short walk to Epcot's International Gateway Entrance. :goodvibes

Cape May for the better buffet and character interaction, IMO, and also for the easy entry into Epcot through the International Gateway ;)

in my opinion, has better food and service. CM is worthwhile for the character variety. Since you have been to Chef Mickey's, I would do Cape May.

The one mark on Cape May is that it can be less convenient to get to than Mickey's depending on where you are traveling from, time of the ADR and if you have a car.

We have done both and MUCH preferred Cape May. The atmosphere was so much more relaxed and the food was excellent. The characters spent more time with us, too.

Glad to hear a lot of people like Cape May.

We haven't been to either but had an 8:30 am ADR for Chef Mickey's on our departure day for a trip next Feb.

Then the airline unexpectedly moved our flight up 50 minutes from 2:20 pm to 1:30 pm. We'll be staying at CSR, so we worried that getting back to CSR by 10:30 am to catch ME might be a little too close for comfort (especially, given all the stories of people having to wait to be seated 30-45 minutes after their ADR times at Chef Mickey's).

I tried getting an earlier slot for Chef Mickey's, but everything was booked. However, Cape May still had tons of openings so I grabbed an 8 am ADR. Luckily, this is on a day when DHS has morning EMH (park opens at 8 am), so even if we miss a character breakfast bus, we should be able to catch a DHS bus and then either walk or take the boat over to BC. After breakfast, we can walk from BC through Epcot and catch a bus back to CSR, hopefully in plenty of time to catch ME.

I've had mixed feelings about giving up Chef Mickey's for Cape May becuase I was hoping to see the Fab 5 in one setting. However, I'm glad to see that Cape May has other redeeming qualites that appear to make up for this (in addition, we have a breakfast ADR at Tusker House on our AK day, so we'll get to see Mickey there).

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I read in Fodor's that it's only Donald and Goofey at Cape May. Is that true? We'll probably only do one character meal this trip so Mickey is a "must see" for us.

My family used to do Cape May every trip the morning we left- it covered breakfast and lunch in one!

I've never done Chef Mickey's, but I did 1900 Park Fare Character Breakfast and liked the buffet better at Cape May, but liked the characters better at 1900 Park Fare. Of course, if you had asked me that when I was a kid, I would have thought the characters at Cape May were way better.

I'm glad I found this thread. We booked ADRs for both. So I'm glad to see that most of you like both of them (well mostly Cape May).

cape may is a must for us too , we did CM also , but prefer Cape May , the food and laid back atmosphere is much better , we have always seen minnie , goofy and donald there , the character interaction has always been amazing there they seem to spend a lot of time at each table and sometimes come around a second time

We've done both on numerous occasions. I think the food at Cape May is better and the restaurant is a lot nicer.

Character interactions were about the same for us...then again, our kids don't go crazy for the characters. They just like the food. :)

Minnie has also been at Cape May the times were were there, haven't seen Mickey there.

For me, one thing to consider is where we are staying and where we are going that day. I would definitely do Cape May if it was my Ep or DHS day, CM if it was my MK day.
