Hi All. This is our first year we will be celebrating Thanksgiving here. We are so excited. Any thoughts on which might be better as we will be with younger kids Chef Mickey or Cape May Cafe? Do the Characters come out at dinner seeing that its Thanksgiving? Any thoughts/recommendations are much appreciated!

Whichever one you manage to get a reservation for 9 days out. :thumbsup2

Cape May is great, but does not have characters at dinner, only at brft. Dinner there is a "clam bake" style buffet. So of those two, you would need to do Chef Mickey's dinner for characters. However, if you don't have reservations yet, they will be very hard to get, as many people have reserved at 180 days, and Chef Mickey's is always a top choice, plus holiday meals go quickly. You can go on the Disney dining page, out in the date and a time for dinner, and can see what is available right now, and be flexible with times. You can also look at lunch time meals. There is a Nov. Cancellation thread as well where you can look to coordinate if someone is cancelling one you want. Are you planning to not be in a park that day since they are both resort meals? Give some more info. and we can give advice to try and help!

So surprisingly we got a reservation at both. We are not planning on going to the parks that day. So eating out of the parks would be good. Where it's been a long time since I've been there and never eaten a holiday meal at Disney, I took both hoping to figure out what would be a good option. Probably not good to take both but I really don't know much about either place or what will be there. I will have to look up the cancellations page. Thank you!

That's good - then I would cancel Cape May with no characters(you can post it on cancellations). Chef Mickey's will be fun, and I am sure they will have traditional fixings on the buffet. It is a great atmosphere for kids, and you can ride the monorail right into dinner! Since you are not doing parks, you could ride the monorail over to the Grand Floridian after dinner to check out the giant gingerbread house and buy some to sample! Mouse for Less website has menus for all the restaurants and which characters appear at certain ones if you need more info. for any other places you are deciding on for your trip.

Thank you very much! I appreciate your help. I will definitely will check out the menus. My kids will love the monorail.

Just went to Chef Mickeys for lunch last Saturday. The character experience is good, each of them comes to your table for pics, antics etc. the restaurant itself wasn't very exciting. It felt very dated like a school or industrial cafeteria. So for the adults I would think not too impressive but the kids prob don't care. Food was decent. I know many love it here and will disagree with me but I liked Crystal Palace with Pooh n friends much better. Bright, roomy atmosphere, great service n characters. But I understand, it's all about Mickey.
