I reserved a Chef Mickey breakfast. We are on a budget and traveling with a 7 y.o and 1 y.o. I've never been to this resort or restaurant.

Is it worth the $$$ ? How long have the characters interacted with your kids? Is there one-on-one character time? Which characters did you see? Is there anything I should know, like: where are the best seats, how early to arrive, what are the best foods there, etc... :scratchin

I'm basically trying to decide on wether to keep this reservation or not :confused3 and if kept: how to make the most of it.

Thanks :wave2:

We love it. It's usually mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and goofy. They all walk around the restaurant and spend time at each table separately.

It's recommended to check in for an ADR 10 minutes early.

This is the one character meal that is a MUST for us. Honestly - none of the character meals are worth the $$ in my humble opinion...we are pretty realistic about the idea that it's the memories we pay for. We do the dining plan so we can do more character meals and just so we don't have to think about money too much while we're there...no matter how you work it, for us, it's the most expensive meal of our lives!!! If you can afford it do it definitely...time spent with your kids will vary depending on the day and/or mood of the characters...but I think they really do try to spend good time with each kid. Of all of the four character meals we did last trip, Chef Mickey's spent the most time with our kids and was probably the best. ;)

They are really fun if you're on the dining plan, but I don't think I'd pay out of pocket for it (just my opinion!). It is a more relaxing way to meet the characters, but there are plenty of opportunities to meet them in the parks.

We have never stayed onsite, so we have payed for character meals out of pocket. I think it is definitely worth it to do at least one, specially if you have a little one that may or may not be scared of the characters since it is a more relaxed way to meet them. You mostly pay for the memories, as it was pointed out earlier, but from the ones we have done I feel that Tusker House at lunch is the best bang for your buck. Some of the food there was amazing, there were a lot of things that I had never tried before. It is similar characters : Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Mickey in Safari clothes. The food at Chefs Mickeys is just OK. Regardless of where you go your kids will love it and remember it. It was the highlight of our trip last year and we will do them again next year

Thanks for your advice! :thumbsup2 I'm going to keep the reservation. We are paying out of pocket for 2 adults & 1 child. Hopefully DH won't change his mind btw now & August!

I've heard about Tusker House before....not sure where. I'll have to see where that is.

I m basically looking for one on one character time w the kids and pictures - especially with Mickey & Minnie! I hope that my 1 yr old won't friek out! :scared:

I've ate at both. Tusker House is in AK and IMO it's not worth it. Chef Mickeys is so much better. I didn't really care for the food at TH. The food at CM is much better. Also the character interactions is so much better.

The food is gross, but the characters are the reason you go to Chef Mickey. Each character spends approximately 2-4 minutes at each table in my experience going twice. It seems plenty long enough. There is a hello, a little chatter from Mom, Dad and child, a hug, a photo and autograph signing. Then they move on.

We paid OOP and I didn't mind to pay the bill, we were paying to save park time really, since we didn't have to do M&G in the parks.

Ok. Thanks! :) I just posted a new thread - would love to hear from you two on it! popcorn::

It is very expensive for what it is. The food is ok but its pretty hard to mess up breakfast. We have been a few times and will be going again as it is one of my boys favourite restaurants.

We have booked for September, my son is mad on mickey. How much does it cost approximately? Do they add on extra due to the characters being there?

We have always enjoyed it and plan to do it again our next trip. We've hard great character interaction - Pluto loving my diaper bag and running off with it is still something my older son (now 7, then 4) still talks about in detail and laughs about. This was one thing my son did request for our next trip. The food is basically the same as everywhere, but we're not really going for a 5 star meal anyway.
