Looking for a place to dine in Sept.

Chef de france or Rose and Crown.

Has anybody been to either and what did you think of them?

We've dined at both and prefer Rose and Crown. Both were fine, but I give R&C the edge in both service and taste. You might check the menus and see which appeals to you from that standpoint.

Another nice thing about R&C is that if you schedule your dinner around Illuminations, they have a nice viewing area that only R&C guests are permitted to use. It really was a great spot from which to see Illuminations.

Enjoy whatever you choose.

Thanks for the response. I'm torn because the menu of both appeals to me. Sadly I will be dining alacarte that night- And was looking for somewhere different to try- Something unique.

I've had great meals at both. I'd probably give Chefs De France the edge food wise.

We just got back and had one of our best dinners at Rose & Crown. The menu did change a couple of days before we were there so they didn't have the guiness stew, which I wanted but it ended up all being great. Our server, Stephen was excellent. Enjoy!

i'd have to give chefs de france the better food award ---sitting on the patio at the rose and crown is terrific but there is no guarantee that you would get a seat outside so that's why chefs might be a better choice
both are good and you'll have a great time either way!

have fun!

I can't comment on R&C but I love Chefs:flower3: The desserts alone are worth the trip!

Whoa! BOTH are good places to eat but I have to give the nod to Chef de France for both food and a relaxed pace for enjoying a meal. I had lunch there at the end of March and had a seat by the window. The service was perfect and very relaxed. It is not the kind of place to go to if you just want to grab a quick bite and bolt.

And the lunch special of (soup/salad/sandwich/creme brulee) is a real bargain.

On a previous visit, my 2 yr old grandson was very hungry and the server (Michael) picked up on it immediately and had food in front of the boy within 10 minutes. All in all, good dining experiences!

Can not comment on Chefs but R&C is one of our absolute favorites.Service is always exceptional!:thumbsup2 DH loves their assortment of beers. For food items we love are the mushroom app, fish & chips, bangers & mash, and stickey bread pudding! We will be going in September!:cool1:

We like France better - the wine is better and the boys are cuter (DD loves it for that - not me, honest!!! :rotfl: )

It's our favorite place for lunch - good french bread, wine, wine, cheeses!!!

You know I was going to mention that when I originally posted, but didn't........:rolleyes1

We have never been to Rose and Crown, but love Chefs de France. In fact, we were just there again last week. DD loves the escargot, I love the French Onion Soup and their filet is delicious. We've always had very good service, too.
