Hi and thanks for your help.

In Chef de France does the mac & cheese have nutmeg in it? I recall someone's dining review mentioning that.

Also, I checked out some pics on the boards of the ham & cheese sandwich. Sometimes you can see the cheese melted on the outside of the sandwich and sometimes it just looks like a regular grilled ham & cheese with no cheese on the outside. I am thinking some of the pics were older than others? Does the sandwich have melted cheese on the outside now?

Much thanks

I've seen that mentioned many times as well. I would not be surprised - nutmeg is a common ingredient in cheese sauces.

anybody out there know about the cheese on the outside of the sandwich? Seems wierd some pics have it and some pics don't. I just don't know which pics are the most recent.

DS is a fairly picky eater and he liked the mac and cheese, if that's helpful. It had a nice flavour.

When we ate there August 25th, DD had the Grilled Ham and Cheese which definitely had the cheese on the outside as well. I believe it was only on one side though.

I had the Macaroni and Cheese and there was a mild taste of nutmeg. It was very delicious--probably my favorite meal!

Thank you, that explains the different pictures! That is so odd they would only put the cheese on half of the outside!

To call the pasta dish mac and cheese is somewhat misleading as it's nothing like an american mac and cheese dish. It's a pasta with a very rich white sauce that does include nutmeg. My kids who are not picky (11 and 12) really didn't like it all. It's a more sophisticated tasting dish. They split the pasta and the steak au poive with the sauce on the side and didn't really care for either dish. I had the the roasted chicken and loved it. Didn't like the profiteroles at all but loved the crepes.

The grilled ham and cheese looks so dry in the photos. Like they didn't put any butter on the bread to grill it just toasted it.

The ham and cheese may have been cooked on the broiler. It may be drier than what you are used to.

2nd this--I love the Mac and cheese , but I am an adult. My daughter did not care for it at all.It is a cream sauce with nutmeg in it

here's the recipe for the ham and cheese sandwich from le chefs de france. it's my husbands favorite when we go to wdw so when we were there for our anniversary last year i asked for the recipe and they emailed it to me.

Croque Monsieur: Chefs de France, Epcot
MAKES: 4 sandwiches
2 tablespoons minced shallots
2 to 3 tablespoons butter at room temperature
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup fat-skimmed chicken broth
1/4 cup milk or whipping cream
6 ounces gruyère cheese, shredded (1 1/2 cups)
4 slices of Gruyère cheese, thickly sliced
1/16 teaspoon fresh-grated or ground nutmeg
8 slices firm white bread
1/4 pound sliced cooked ham
Shredded provolone, Parmesan and Swiss mixed together
1. In a 10- to 12-inch nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat, stir shallots in 1-tablespoon butter. Stir often until golden, about 3 minutes. Add flour; stir until blended. Remove from heat and add broth and milk; whisk to blend well. Return to heat and whisk until mixture is boiling vigorously. Remove from heat and add cheese and nutmeg; stir until cheese is melted. Pour sauce into a bowl.
2. Lightly butter one side of each bread slice and lay buttered sides down on a sheet pan. Divide half the cheese sauce equally among 4 slices; spread sauce to edges. Lay ham, cheese equally over sauce, top with the remaining bread slices.
3. Place the provolone, Parmesan and Swiss cheese on top of the bread and bake in the oven until cheese is melted.

Wow! If that's the croque monsieur recipe then the times that I have tried it, I would expect it to be better. It has always been quite dry. I have enjoyed every thing else that I have tried there.

Thank you!!!! This explains so much, what a lot of work for a sandwich that, in the pictures, doesn't really look all that amazing.

There is nutmeg in the Macaroni and cheese.. it is very mild, i don't think i have ever really tasted it.
