We went this week and it was amazing ! I had catfish , grits and huspuppies . I wanted to eat every bite but with the generous portion just couldn't. Husband had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and doughnuts. He kept raving about how moist the chicken was . We were too full for dessert but the options looked delicious. We will definitely go back. We live in Atlanta and just figured out he has a restaurant here too. We hope to try it soon .

Did the chicken have bones?

The chicken can come with bones or without. They serve a leg, an airline, and thigh. You can also choose to have all white meat or dark!

I was wondering what "sampler" sides were. Thank you.....you made my choice harder! LOL!

The sampler of sides is known as the kitchen plate! You get your choice of three of their sides...mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, KC greens, green beans, cheddar biscuits, southern slaw to name a few options

Do they take reservations for lunch? I only see ADR times for dinner.

We ate there in late July and had drinks, appetizers, and dessert. The cocktails are excellent and unique. We had the Jaspar board, deviled eggs, hushpuppies, and Shine cake. The pimento cheese, shaved ham, and pickles on the Jaspar board were awesome. I am craving it right now The deviled eggs were pretty much 6 full eggs, a good portion; however, they were a little bland. They were done well, but I like a little kick in mine. The hushpuppies were described as containing pimento cheese, but we couldn't really taste it. They came with a red pepper jelly that was good and made them more moist, since they were a little dry. They didn't come with pimento cheese then, but it seems they come with it on the side now. The Shine cake was really good too, kind of like rum cake. I really want to try the hummingbird cake. I want to go back in December, but I don't know if we will have time

Thank you. I like my chicken with bones and only like dark meat so that's good to know I can request dark meat.
So now it's harder to decide.....

Are these smaller portions or same size as if you were to order just one side? or same size as side from the meal?

Anyone tried cucumber salad or southern slaws?

That's what it's called. I couldn't remember. All I remembered was my wife saying she wanted to get that next time. I'm pretty sure I'd be a happy guy with an order of hush puppies, the kitchen plate and a slice of cake. Not much protein there, but a lot of happiness!

We went in August and just LOVED it. First, we shared the chicken and dumpling soup. WOW was it delicious! I wish I could have it shipped here for winter! DH ordered the fried chicken plate, and I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with their homemade chips and icebox dressing (very similar to ranch). I got the dressing on the side, which was a great move, since I was able to take the chips to go when I couldn't finish them! They were great later that night. I also had the chance to sample the homemade donuts - yum! We would really like to come back on our next visit.

What I've heard is that if you are not used to this kind of food, you will find it fabulous. Because it IS pretty great.

However, if you are from a particular part of the country- the South, Midwest, Amish Country- you probably have a restaurant or several you can get food like this that is at least as good, if not better. And, you'll probably find it pricy, considering what you can get at your favorite joints. But, again, for Disney it's great. And again, if you aren't familiar with this authentic type of fare (ie not KFC), you will likely find it outstanding.

I'm just not sure I can pull the trigger on the price of it, even as good as it may be. I can and do get similar food at home. If I'm at Disney and I am spending that kind of money, I would expect a more special experience. And, if I'm at Disney Springs, I think I would want to try some different things that I can't get at home.
