Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' - anyone dine there lately?

I have an ADR for lunch next month and just wanted to get some ordering advice. I guess you cannot go wrong with the chicken. I've watched a few Youtube vlogs and it seems like the hummingbird cake is a great way to end the meal.

So yeah...just seeing if there are any fans of the restaurant and what ya'll recommend. Thanks!

The deviled eggs were amazing. I'm very picky about devilied eggs. I hate when they taste of mustard or relish and these were divine. The crispy shallot on top was perfect.

I also really enjoyed the fried chicken and the mashed potatoes. DH was not thrilled about eating here. He figured it was "just" a chicken place and we have great fried chicken here in NC...he happily admits he was so wrong! Loved everything.

We shared the Fried Chicken and the BBQ Pork sandwiches when we did lunch on our last trip. We also had dinner there on the same trip and did the Shrimp & Grits and the Fried Chicken with Donuts. We will eat there again when we go back.

Big fan here! As you said chicken is the star and we've found the thigh high chicken and biscuits is as good as it gets. The fried chicken is good too, but chicken and biscuits and hot honey and I'm sold. We also love the hush puppies!

We were just there less than two weeks ago!

The portions are huge! I watched a woman next to me order the friend chicken, donuts and mashed potatoes and it was enough for 2 people easily. My husband & I shared the thigh high chicken biscuits (amazing & filling) with the house-made pickles, and the three side sampler. The Mac & cheese may be the best on property and the grits were seriously killer. For sure a must do on future trips.

I'm thinking I'll be fine with the thigh high chicken and biscuits along with the hush puppies. They sound and look great! No need to get the famous chicken dish because like you said..the biscuits have the hot honey. Yum! The other people in my party will definitely get the mac and cheese so i'll be able to try all the good stuff.
