1. If it's called a "Philly" cheesesteak on the menu, don't order it.

To the OP...while they not be true Philadelphia style, I liked the ones from the Plaza in MK, Beaches and Cream at the BC, and at ESPN.

I find Philadelphians overstate their cheesesteaks (sorry, friends).

I think most people tend to overstate the foods their hometowns are known for. These people grew up with and love their hometown foods. Whether it be Chicago Pizza, New York Pizza, Philly Cheesesteaks, Cincinnati Chili, or lobster rolls. It is just never as good as the locals play it up to be. They are good, but not fantastic.
