I read somewhere that the cheese soup at Le Cellier has bacon in it. Is it just a few bits of bacon sprinkled on top or is the soup base made with bacon?

I would like to know this as well. i am not a big fan of bacon but would love to try the cheese soup !!

well, according to the recipe, you cook the bacon first and then use the grease to make a roux.

then you add the crumbled bacon on top of it.

I don't know how you would categorize it then.

When you eat it can you taste the bacon flavor? I really want to try this soup but I don't like bacon.

Get someone else to order it and just taste it. :teeth:

I have had the cheese soup several times. I never noticed a bacon flavor.

To be on the safe side, you could request that no extra bacon be put on top of the soup.

i have made the recipe a few times, you brown the bacon and flour and make a roux or paste then add the rest of the ingredients, so it isn't a garnish but is used in the base to start the soup, hope this helps!

I had it last week and it is absolutely wonderful! There are little bacon bits, but I find that it tastes like a cheesy potato soup with bacon bits. I hope that makes sense.... The soup has Moosehead beer in it too (which you can't taste). Have a great time at Le Cellier! The filet mignon is to die for!
