Well, looking for some help on this one.

Last year I purchased a bunch of really neat Christmas cheese knives to use as presents this year. I would like to make a nice cheese ball and wrap that with the knives as a present. Anyone have a good receipe for a cheese ball?

Thanks in advance.

Take one pkg of cream cheese. Soften and than add one pky of the dry Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix. Combine and than roll in coarse cracked black pepper. We have made this for years and it always gets raves. Simple but great!

Try the kraftfoods.com website for lots of cheese ball recipies. Search for "cheese balls"

I haven't made this in a long time but last time I did EVERYONE loved it!

Pineapple Cheese Ball
2 (8 oz) pkgs of Cream Cheese
1 (8 oz) can of crushed pineapple (drained)
1 tsp finely chopped onion
2 Tbsp finely chopped green pepper
1 tsp season salt
1 C chopped pecans

Let cream cheese soften. Combine all ingredients except pecans
in large bowl and mix well. Refrigerate 1-2 hrs. Form into a ball and roll in pecans. Refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hrs before serving.

I had a difficult time getting this formed into a ball so would put in a pretty bowl or serving tray and serve w/crackers.

This is delicious, and will disappear before you know it.

Chocolate Chip Cheeseball

1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup confectioners sugar
2 T brown sugar
3/4 cup miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans (optional)

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until fluffy. Gradually add sugars; beat just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Place cream cheese mixture on a large piece of plastic wrap; shape into ball. Refrigerate for at least one hour. Just before serving, roll cheese ball in pecans if desired. Serve with graham crackers.

Our recipe is similar to this one, but instead of rolling in the pepper, add a cup of shredded cheddar cheese and form into a ball.

Good Luck!!

Thanks everyone for the great replies. Can't wait until it's a little closer and I start making them up....may just may make several since there are four couples I'm giving to.

I think I got this one here some time ago. It sounds really good for variety!

Chocolate Mint Dessert Ball

11 oz Cream cheese, softened
¾ c choc chips, melted
¼ c crème de menthe
½ tsp cinnamon
1½ c coarsely chopped pecans

In a large bowl combine first 4 ingredients. Blend until smooth. Chill at least 2 hrs, roll into ball and roll in chopped nuts. Serve with chocolate wafer cookies.

"You can also mix up the liquor and nuts.....try Kalhua and almonds or Baileys.........or instead of nuts, try coconut. Amaretto and nuts work good too!"

I have another one that gets rolled in dried beef & has horseradish in it, but I can't find it right now. If I find it I'll post it later.

Ohhhhh, I hope you find that one. :hyper:

This is a favorite I love making. It goes well with dark bread or crackers!

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried chives
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, chives and garlic powder. Mix well. Shape the mixture into a ball and refrigerate it until ready to serve.

To everyone who was kind enough to post a recipe.....would you mind letting me know how long they will keep? I want to be able to make them up ahead and then give them to my cousins on Christmas Day when the come for dinner.

Yumm....

Chicken Cheeseball

2 8-oz pkg cream cheese
15 oz canned chicken, shredded
1 pkg Hidden Valley Ranch mix
1 tsp minced onion
dash Worchestershire sauce

Mix it altogether, chill for 2 hours, serve on crackers. I don't know how long it keeps, probably a week?
