I know Disney has this every year but wondering if it is the same time every year. Trying to avoid the crowds and I know this can be a very busy time. Thank You

I'm at POP right now and there are cheerleaders here. I think only a few are staying here as we have seen less than a dozen of them. There is also school bands and grad trip groups around right now. We have seen then in the parks. In general the cheerleaders etc stay at the All Stars with minimal overflow going to POP.

There are Cheer/Dance/Twirl competitions "just about" every week from January through The Summit the first weekend in May.

"For the most part" the Groups stay at the All-Stars,Pop Century and Caribbean Beach.

If you are trying to avoid the Groups,I recommend All-Star Sports-they seem to really "blend" in with other Guests there.lol

We saw a lot more cheerleaders today. I'm guessing that they are mainly here around weekends for the comps.

From January through the first week or so in May you will have teens with Big Tour Groups, Cheerleaders, Marching Bands, Middle Schools, Graduation trips, Sports Teams ...... every single week and weekend. There is no way to avoid in the parks when they are there but you can potentially avoid in hotels. #1 location is AllStars, secondary locations are POP and CBR. As an example this is just some dance/cheer groups that I found heading down in 2015, doesn't include any of the other groups. Note these are their competition days, many events sell before or after packages so they can stay and enjoy the parks.

We were there over Summit in 2013. We stayed at BLT and had no issues. I didn't see them in the parks or feel like there were groups on the rides. I'm sure you'll see a lot of them if you stay at All Stars but it didn't bother us a bit. We did avoid Epcot on the day when the finals were in that park. I also think they closed DHS early one night for a private party for them, so be sure to look at that when planning park days and making ADRs. To us, it didn't interfere with our trip at all.
