When there is a football game, who receives the proceeds from the gate, concession stand and spirit wear sales?
During our football games, we have the team, of course, the cheerleaders and our marching band at all home games (about 6). Since our school opened ten years ago, the football team has worked the gate, concession stand and spirit wear table and of course receives all of the profits (as well they should
).
Our arts department took a huge cut in funds this year due to state budget cuts. Since the three of us (FB team, cheerleaders and band), all work together to create the atmosphere for the game, I thought that for one game, the band and cheerleader boosters could work the game (replacing the football boosters) and take the profits from that one particular day. When I mentioned it to one of the vice-principals (who has a son on the football team), he said that it was going to be a tough battle with the FB boosters. I'm ready
So how is it done at your schools? Thanks!
P.S. - we do have one of our own home show competitions that we use as a fundraiser, and we do various other ones, but funds are still extremely tight.
I'm not trying to say that the FB team doesn't deserve the vast majority of the profit, because it is a football game after all
. Just would like to share in some of the profit since their budget wasn't cut.
