Cheerleaders take over Disney

We just got back today, and arrived may first at CBR. A large cheer group was there. All seemed fine to me. Other than matching shirts they didn't seem to behave any different than any other gaggle of girls at that age.
I don't really have a frame of reference to compare it to, but the crowds seemed very tame. Of course, we were with my four year old, so we only went to the attractions that allowed >40" guests.
While I did notice them, I'd say they impacted my stay about 0.013%.

We were there April 27th-May 4th. Holy moly, it was crowded! We chose that week for our boys' first visit because there was supposed to be a "moderate" crowd level. There were 2 cheerleading competitions, a dance competition, plus many, MANY school groups. It was wall to wall teenagers. We didn't encounter any poor behavior from any of them, but we probably won't go there in the spring again. I guess April/May is the time of year for that sort of thing.

I wish there was a website where you could find a list of Orlando/Disney area competitions so visitors could avoid those times.

Honestly hearing people complain about the cheerleaders is ridiculous. Most cheerleaders do not act like this and clearly some people are over exaggerating. I am a cheerleader and I'm going to Disney in 2 weeks because of a National Competition. While were there my team and I want to have fun and let go after having performing in front of thousands of people. So yes we will laugh and joke, but what normal teenage girl wouldn't in Disney. Also people don't understand that we know what were doing when we stunt so there is no stupidity there. We do harder stunts at practice and during competitions so a simple pre, extension, or lib is nothing to be worried about.

I think they are staying at the All Star Resorts at the end of the month. If anyone knows different, chime in.

I realize this is a long necro'd thread, but since your post is recent I will give you some personal insight.

I went to Disneyworld with my wife last year and it so happened to be during whatever that Summit event is, and as such there were an astounding amount of cheerleaders in all the parks. After being exposed to that I am personally trying to avoid it again. I do not believe people are exaggerating at all based on my own experience. It can be a headache when you are in line and a group of cheerleaders are screaming in your ear while you are in que and when say 3 of them in front of you wave in a group of 9 additional friends to cut through the line when you have been waiting half an hour.

Now that being said I do agree with you that not all cheerleaders act like this, and I will be open to believe that even most do not. The problem is that the ones that do leave a long-lasting impression. I will also straight up say that this type of behavior is not limited to cheerleaders and many other groups of friends in that age-group can be seen acting out of line as well. The problem is that since most of the cheerleaders do not have time to go change between events if they are to have time in the park, they are going to be in some form of uniform most of the times and they are easy to single out.

I hope you have a great time in the park when you go, and if possible I would implore you to maybe say a word or two to any other cheerleaders who may be acting out of line because those few can cast a negative view on your sport for the rest of you that do not behave this way! It isn't fair that people judge this way but it is the reality of the situation.

My niece is there. Their competition was held at the Indy Jones pavilion today . Hope she is behaving!

So has anyone heard or read any different about most of them being at the All Stars at the end of this month? Hoping none will be at CSR.

I have no idea where anybody is staying, but in the MK last Monday, the cheerleaders seemed to behaving ok to me. The Quince groups on the other hand...yikes! The screaming was so loud in the Big Thunder queue that it made me want to get out of line! (They were from Argentina, according to their jackets.)

That was WAY inappropriate behavior to me. They shouldn't ruining other people's ability to enjoy the attractions!

The Summit Competition and Cheerleading Worlds Competition are the last 2 weekends of April. Allstars, Pop Century and CBR...are all hotel options.

We are going for a Cheer competition March 19-23. We were skipping Disney this year, but since they qualified...twist my arm. We are staying at Sports if you want to avoid us. Have been in July, and I found the Brazillian groups to be fine, just kids. However, they did mess with my touring. Yes, my girls wear the nike pro shorts and tops, but their body parts do not fall out of them, they look cute. Just because one group or girl does it, don't color them all with one broad stroke. The girls who are going are good kids, and do a lot of good for the community. They all hold a 3.5 GPA or higher and are kind to their classmates/team mates. Recently, the Captains organized a food drive for a family, who was on hard times, due to a child's medical condition. So yes, it is a family park and guess what my family (my 3 daughters are all cheerleaders) have grown up in in Disney. So my family will enjoy Disney in our Teen years and if you have a problem with that. Guess what? That is your problem!

I want to avoid all tour groups. Not just cheerleaders. All of them, if possible. And I am a cheer mom as well.

We are staying at Pop (onsite for the first time) from April 25-May 1st and I'm now worried it's going to be crazy. Any advice? I'd think about switching to POR but my son has has heart set on Pop after looking online.

Oh I don't know... the large group of cheerleaders (along with their coaches) that were belting out a song about pole dancing at the top of their lungs on the bus going from DTD to CR were just awesome. It really opened a door to my DS about a profession that he knew nothing about.
And when we were in line for Buzz and he was pushed to the ground when another group of cheerleaders were messing around and shoved him.... that was fine. Just taught him that you've got to fight for everything in this world. Even for your place in line at family amusement park.

Obnoxious.

I want to go when there is only ladies over 50 there - LOL No just kidding, I love all children and teens if they just don't throw up or cut in front of me in line!:lovestruc (What an old coot!)

Just got back from WDW, and the park was filled with girls that were either cheer or dance competitors, and they performed in MK.

All of the girls in touring the parks in groups, and I must say were well behaved, in fact, behaving much better than many adults, and other families that I saw there.

If they these girls' organizations are like many school organizations, shenanigans are not tolerated, and failing to follow rules means either going back to the hotel with a chaperone, or possibly sent home if the conduct is severely bad.

I can imagine this is part of the reason why they were behaved--- and oh yeah, it's freaking WDW--- I mean who wants to tell their parents they had bad behavior whilst there [or if a teacher/coach/chapporon has to report such news].

[this observation coming from a somewhat newlywed, currently without children or a pregnant wife]

I have a nice cheerleader story. I was on board the Monorail with a small group of them. At first they chatted amongst themselves but there was a young family in our section. They started chatting with a young girl who was part of this family. Asked her questions like what is your favorite ride and did you see any characters today. I was impressed by their sweetness and thoughtfulness towards this child.

This thread is getting SO ridiculous. Some of these complaints are 100% merited and some aren't. Goodness me! I saw a girl in an athletic bra! Doesn't she know that her stomach is SHAMEFUL? Well, of course she was following all the rules and having a good time with her friends at no expense of anyone else but an exposed stomach in MY family theme park? With MY family? My child will ask about the female body!!! Immediately!!!

At this point some of you are just looking for things to complain about.

Actually according to Walt Disney World Resort Park Rule and Regulations, General Rules part d. "Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times." Strangely, they appear not to be enforcing this rule. Have fun in your bra. I mean it seems a little strange to gallivant in your underwear to me, but everyone has a hobby.

Update: You responded to a post that was done like two years ago. Let's leave this thread as is.

Corrected

There will be a cheerleading and dance competition February 27-March 1st at Wide world of sports. It is for all stars, high school and rec teams. Most seem to be from FL and not staying on property but there are quite a few traveling from NY, NJ, and other parts of the US. We will be staying at All Star Sports Resort. I apologize in advance for any noise on Sunday March 1st from our practice outside the hotel. We try to be quiet and unobtrusive on others vacations. We've traveled from Upstate NY and like to get in a quick run through before heading over and competing, especially with them off of practices for five days before the biggest competition of the year!

Does anyone know if the groups typically visit the parks before or after the competitions? We will be visiting the week of May 3, a
