I posted this on another thread, but this time of year at WDW, when the cheerleaders are invited down in hordes... it can get a bit problematic.

Most times cheerleaders have had experience only riding on THEIR OWN school buses... and they can do what they like.
However, the Disney RESORT/PARK buses are a different story.

The only unpleasant interaction we personally encountered was going back to All Stars on a late bus from MGM one night after viewing the OLights.

There was a group (6-8) of cheerleaders who decided we all needed to hear them do a routine. They were all in the very back seats.

They did a cheer (full-volume) inside that tightly-enclosed steel shell of a bus, that lasted about 20 seconds (OK, not TOO bad).

Then, less than a minute later, they started ANOTHER one!

Well, understand that the bus is FULL (standing room fully filled) at around 10pm after a full day at the parks. (The bus was a combo of all 3 All Stars by that time of night.)

I was standing about 3 rows away and at that point (in my "big boy" announcer's voice) I yelled, "KNOCK IT OFF!!!"
And the girls DID stop, mid-yodel.
(My DW chimed in with, "Not everybody wants to hear you cheer.")

We got lots of "thank you's" from the other weary guests nearby,
followed by much (very quiet) discussion amongst ourselves about the parents not teaching the kids any respect of others.

When we got to Sports (we were staying at Music) the girls and their "chaperones" got off the bus. The dad (I assume) of one of the girls was "steamed-up" over the fact that we silenced his little charges.

His wife actually physically held him back as he came running back to answer another man who told him that he needed to explain "outside voice/inside voice" to the girls.
The situation came close to being "nasty" and that would have been a shame.
The dad of the cheerleaders actually told the rest of us on the bus (as his wife pulled him away) that we needed to learn to "respect the kids!"

Respect the kids... if they want to cheer on a public bus... let 'em!

Wow!

I was in a dance group that traveled all over the world. It never even occurred to us that the other passengers might really enjoy watching us do one of our routines! and our parents definitely wouldn't have let us get away with something like that. That sounded like one annoying bus ride. Especially after a long day at the park. I know alot of times there are sleeping toddlers on the busses at the end of the day. Kids being disrepectful is something that really pushes my buttons.

Wow. That is such a shame. :sad2: I did cheerleading, and was in band and took trips to places where "real people" were also at the hotel (that is how the teachers phrased it). We were told that we had to respect the other guests in the hotels, and other public places we were going.

We have been many times while the cheerleaders are there and found:
NOT ALL but a large majority of them are

spoiled
ignorrent
have no respect for anyone but themselves and tend to ruin other
peoples vacations.

Sorry those of you that will stand up for them but look in the
mirror-do you see what we see?

Let them cheer at there contest=but keep them quiet when not
Stop them from making crank phone calls at all hours of the night
Stop them from throwing their empty PIZZA boses over the railings
Stop them from throwing stuff in the pools
anyone else want to add to this?

I was at WDW Dec. 2 - 8 and we ran into a few cheerleading crowds. Most were fairly well behaved (for being teenage girls in a big group!). They were just noisy and I think it tends to grate more because we are all tired.

The worst was a huge group of them that we got stuck in The Lion King show at AK with. They were cheering in line. They all sat together and were cheering and at one point stood up and were stomping their feet. One of the cast members finally told them to stop and the rest of the crowd cheered.

The Pop Warner boys weren't much better - and probably worse.. I'm a "live and let live person" when it comes to Disney World, but when people (adults and children alike) do their best to ruin someone else's vacation - and then think it's funny - I tend to get irritated..

These large groups are not chaperoned properly - whenever we encountered problems, there were NO chaperones with them - the kids were just running in "packs".. They either need more chaperones, no running free without chaperones, or a good swift kick in the pants..

I respectfully disagree, Disney Crazy Family. I think we need to start a "Take Back the Parks" campaign :)

Good Idea Katie, perhaps more of us should speak up
to them and put them in their place etc

need to start a thread We are not going when cheerleaders and pop warner are there

You think it's bad outside the parks? Try inside.

Chanting in the rotunda, chanting in the queue, and the worst ... chanting on the ride.

The cheer mom chaperone's are laughable.

That would have drove me nuts too.. I am glad you used your "big boy" voice and said something.. whatever happened to the KIDS NEEDING TO RESPECT THE ADULTS?!

YES! I just posted my experiences with the cheerleaders on the other post "never again in December". Luckily we only had to deal with them for a couple of days but it definitely made a difference especially on our only Animal Kingdom day!

I posted this on another thread. I was at AK on the 6th, and had the worst time with the groups. I was in Dinoland for the majority of the day, and was totally frazzled by the end. The groups were extremely aggressive with the characters, disrespectful to them, and had me almost to the point of wanting to call security (especially during EMH with Mickey and Minnie, but that is another story).

oh boy am i glad this post came up..we too were there from dec3-8 and for the most part they were ok-however, they did cheer on the bus at night on the way back to music and it was really ANNOYING!!! now i can understand everyone being excited and talking on the bus about the rides they went on and stuff but that was way too much...and yes, they were not chaperoned .i saw the chaperones at the bar by the pool while the "kids"played tag running thru all the floors of the hotel. we got stuck w/a group of them on maelstrom and they were pretty much standing up thru out this boat ride.

but, we did get on test track and had a 50ish year old women talking on her cellphone to someone telling them what part of the ride she was going thru at that moment. that was more ANNOYING!!!!!

so what resort arent they at???

Because both groups were there at the same time - Pop and Cheerleaders - plus the race car awards and conventions - I would say only the Deluxe resorts might be "group" free.. :confused3

That is rotton that the chaperones don't step up and do their job with these groups. Obnoxious is the word that comes to mind when I think of how these football/cheerleaders groups must be.

I used to be a Sales Manager at a Marriott and we often had youth hockey groups in for tournaments in the area. The kids were horrible but the parents/chaperones were worse. No respect for the hotel property, the other guests, etc. They were always drinking, never watching the kids and always so loud, rude and low class in their language. Ugh, I do not miss those days.

IMO, kids now a days have zero respect for adults, because we as parents are not allowed to be a parent anymore. If you try and reprimand your child, they report you to DSS! When I was growing up I was taught to respect your elders, and if you didn't...there were consquences to pay.

After reading these boards lately, I can definately say, I will never go to Disney during December....which is very sad! :sad2:

I'm glad someone had the guts to tell them to knock it off. We just got back, and I saw/heard them at every park. There was a group of Pop Warner boys in line for Test Track and they had one of those air blasters, which he popped off every few minutes. I so badly wanted to turn around, grab it, pitch it, and tell him to chase it. Then were was a huge group of mostly girls at MGM on the evening of December 7. They walked everywhere cheering--horribly loud. Chaperones following up at the rear, doing absolutely nothing. I spoke with a woman staying in the values, and she was furious. She said the noise outside their room was nonstop. She complained to Disney, but of course, what they can do?

What we ought to do is send letters of complaint to Pop Warner.
