We are going to be at DW during the Feb 10-13 National High School Cheerleading competition. We are staying at WL, so I'm hoping to avoid the happy little crowds of them at the resort, but what about the parks? Are there groups of cheering teenagers all over? Any experience?

Thanks ::MickeyMo

This past Feb, we arrived on the last day of the competition so there was a little overlap. We definitely saw some groups of them in the parks (no impact on crowd level), but we didn't have any bad experiences. (maybe they were worn out from the competition??) That being said, they were being typical high school girls in a group-- definitely heard, but nothing negative.

this past Feb during the EXACT days of the whole competition and it wasn't a problem at all. I did print their schedule off of their website (can't find the website again but if you Google it you might) and just didn't go to the park of the day for them or MK on their free park day. Most of the time you would never know they're there on competition days because they're just too busy with that. When we did see them in the parks it appeared that they split up with either family or in smaller clusters so it wasn't bad at all.

February crowds were soooo low that it didn't matter if there was a big group - the longest we waited for anything was 30 minutes for Dumbo (which is a constant) right during the busiest time of the day on Saturday. It shouldn't be a problem at the parks. We stayed at POP and none of them were there and it was fairly quiet.

The ONLY time it was even a mild inconvenience was at Planet Hollywood on Valentine's Day (so it was busy to begin with). There was a HUGE group of the girls and mom's and coaches that took up the whole waiting area but they were nice enough (just peppy :cheer2: ) and it didn't dampen the night anymore than just the too noisy atmosphere that PH has to offer anyhow.

I've been to MouseFest the last two years, which coincides with the PW football competition, and had not a single problem with them the whole time, except on the busses.

Really, they were not a problem even on the busses, but they tend to cheer/chant/sing for the whole ride, which get old real fast.

In the parks, I rarely noticed them at all.

I went to WDW in 2000 during some cheerleading competition in March and those girls were everywhere! We were waiting in line for Alien Encounter and a few of them were in front of us and 10 of them decided to push everyone out of their way from the back of the line to get to their friends without even saying "excuse me" or "can we please stand with our friends?" Then they were sticking their video cam in our faces asking us stupid questions. When I went to tell their chaperone (he had a chaperone T-Shirt on), he said "oh they are not bothering you" and he kept on chatting away with a friend! I will NEVER go during cheerleading competitions again!

They weren't a problem at all the last two years. The ones we met or were in line with were very pleasant young women. I wouldn't fret at all!

We were there during the competition.....I only noticed because while watching the electro light parade along Main Street USA I heard voices behind me which was not unsual but they were also above me..I turned to see a few girls taking turns holding eachother up (Feet about shoulder height) so they could see..that was interesting.....and later on in the parks we only noticed because my 10 year old son kept walking into people and things when his eyes were looking in a direction he wasn't walking!! Cheerleaders are fun when you are 10 :cheer2:

Just wear ear plugs you will get tired of hearing :cheer2: " B---B---E BE AGGRESSIVE" :cheer2:

OH GOD -covers ears-

Horrible, horrible beasts! -cries-

Man, when they were at the Studios that time... -shudder-

Never the same fear twice, I'll tell you that much! :rotfl:

DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying ALL of them are like that, I just had a really bad experience in February

I guess it depends upon your tolerance to rather loud, self-centered teens!

We were there one year in Feb at the same time as the cheerleaders, and ran into bunches of them here and there. They got on my nerves after awhile. Not that they were "bad", just loud and totally focused on themselves. (Not all of them, of course, but they did seem to run in groups that way!)

It was not enough to ruin my vacation - but I would think twice about being there at the same time again.

We were there during Cheerleader Competitions in 2002. Like others, this didn't ruin our trip, but I can say I was very tired of giggly, noisy teenage girls that trip! (if my mom were to hear me say that, she'd tell me it was paybacks for my teenage years - ha!) My husband was really funny though...at first he was like, "cool, cheerleaders  !" after the week had progressed though, he was like, "ugh...cheerleaders :sad2: !" Haha!!! It didn't seem to affect the crowds IMHO, but it did grate on my nerves after a while.

My right eye has begun twitching just thinking about it! Just remember you're at Disneyworld, maybe we should cheer right along with them!!! :cheer2: Give me a D! I! S! N! E! Y! :cheer2: I feel better already!

we went the last week in february first week of march back in 2003 & there was a group of cheerleaders & dance teams at the world. the parks were not to bad crowd wise, the girls were enjoying disney like any other tourist & didnt have any problems.

BUT the resort was another story, allstar movies was awful because they were so loud early in the morning outside your rooms (talking, cheering, running through the halls) the foodcourt was extremely loud & full and the buses at night to/from dtd was unbearable. since you're staying at wl i dont see much of a problem (youth groups seem to stay at the values mostly).

BEWARE:

Also March 9 to March 13. That is Nationals for the All Star Teams, UCA. I will be there with the Titan All Stars from Enfield, CT. :cheer2: :cheer2:

The only problem we've ever had is at the resort. We booked All Star Sports two years ago during the competition. You were greeted at 700am with loud cheering in the courtyards. Then, cheering, running, screaming until 12:30-1:00am late night. We had to call security twice because of the noise. Now, we make sure we don't book AS Sports during competitions.

Stayed at All Star Movies in Feb 2003 and never again. The cheerleaders were everywhere and never appeared to be chaperoned. We stayed one there night and changed resorts. Leaving Epcot one night, a group of them got on the bus thinking they were going to the Studios for their special event, rather than than Port Orleans as the bus header said. Guess they can't read. They yelled and screamed the entire time--acted like no one was on the bus other than them. Wherever you find them, the noise level is very high. I never noticed them in the parks, just at the resorts, busses, etc.

Haven't been there during the Cheer events but I this past may there was a large group of cheerleaders there with 2 chaperones (not sure what they were there for) but they were in line with us at the Haunted Mansion and I knew we were in trouble from the second I heard their high shrill screams in line. In the portrait gallery you could not hear one single word that the "Ghost Host" was saying because they were shreiking the entire time and when the lights went out :earseek: forget it! I think I busted an ear drum when they began to scream :earseek: When we were walking out of the portrait gallery someone said, "must be cheerleaders" and the chaperone just laughed and said "of course!" I wanted to tell her that she needed to invest in muzzles for the remainder of their trip. I made sure to put alot of people between myself and the group of cheerleaders so we would not be in the same rooms together throughout the ride. I was glad I did because I could still hear them-albeit faintly- screaming (probably at the top of their lungs throughout the ride.

We were there in March when they had the competition. All in all they were nice girls and we really had no problem. We were at Pop and they weren’t which was a blessing. DS14 thought it was heaven. The only problem was just more crowded but they were all very nice and polite and friendly.

We will be staying at BCV's Feb 12-18th and I was thinking the exact same thing. However I only posted to tell you your siggie pic is just beautiful! What a cutie!

If you go during a Pop Warner comp. then you might get annoyed because Pop Warner cheerleaders cheer. On the bus some people from my team (when I was on PW) were cheering very loud on the bus early in the morning and I could see how that would annoy some people. But if you go during and All*Star competition it should be fine. All*Star cheerleaders do not cheer. So you wont here them yelling or anything like that.
