Cheerleader Event 3/9?

Hi,
Please take no offense if you were a cheerleader(my sisters were for years and I always went to watch them cheer), but I heard that there was a cheerleader covention (reservation department's words not mine) this weekend. Anyone else been there before when there were numerous cheerleaders? Are they a problem? We were planning on going on this date, but now having second thoughts. Any info?

Where is the competition being held? If it is at the Convention Center across the street, there won't be many problems. Lots of cheerleaders/dancers in the parks, but in my experience they are typically well behaved...especially if they are school groups.

If it is being held at the Hyperion Theater, I would just avoid the back area of the Hollywood section of DCA. Get over to Tower of Terror and then leave! It gets pretty wild over there with lots of teams warming up/practicing routines outside of the theater and around the area.

I checked the convention center website and cheerleading is listed 3/16-3/18 and 3/23-3/25. There is a Big West Basketball Tournament 3/7-3/10.

I also checked the disneyland site and since Aladdin is scheduled to run on the 9th, i don't think there is any cheerleading going on.

I looked awhile ago and just saw the Natural products and Basketball Tourney that weekend. I usually go the next weekend and there is a spirit competition but the kids were fine and didn't come till the evening when the competition is over.

the reservation guy said that they were wild in the hotels and would be staying at all 3 and that if there was another time that would work for us, we should go then. He was really nice and helpful (gave me dates with discounts, etc, tower recommendations etc) and suggested either coming 2 days earlier or waiting for the cheerleaders to leave (no difference in rates.) I have read posts from WDW about wild cheerleaders, and worried that this might be the same. maybe we will go after all.

The first 3 weekends in March are cheer and dance competitions--the 3-4 are at the Hyperion Theater. The 16-18 are all-star cheer at convention center and 23-26 are dance/drill at convention center. The kids will mostly be at the parks at night. Most of them are required to stay at the convention center for most of the day.
