Cheerios commercial - Nana

I have seen this one before and I am crying now watching it again.

My mother once attempted to drown me in a bowl of Cheerios.

Make a commercial about that, General Mills!

REMIND ME OF MY PAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

But for reals: That's a sweet commercial.

Jeesh I must be the only one who finds it obnoxious. First of all we do not KNOW that NANA is dead. She may be estranged, she may be in witness protection program, or she might be just around the corner. Talk about playing on people's emotions. I thought it was a low blow to sell cereal.

I am one of the worst people when it comes to crying at commercials so it is not that I am an unemotional person but when it is sooooo blatent it ticks me off.

I agree! I once bawled my eyes out at a Hallmark commercial, so I'm not immune to cheap sentimentality. But this commercial is just so ham-fisted that it's impossible to be pulled into the scene and take them as real people, not actors. The kid's delivery is just sooooooo "aww shucks I just said something TOUCHING!" that it backfires. :lmao:

OMG! I am caregiver for my 90 year old Nana. I have to ration her Cheerios because she wants them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. She fills up on Cheerios and eats nothing else. This makes me feel like a jerk.

Please tell me what they are saying. I can't understand any of the words except about having breakfast for dinner :confused3

They don't say anything about bfast for dinner.

The little girl asks her mom if her Nana used to give Cheerios to the mom when she was little. The mom says, yes, she did. She asks if Cheerios are the same as they were then- the mom says they have been the same forever. The girl then says that when they eat Cheerios together, it is kinda like they are having bfast with Nana. The mom tears up and says, yes, it is like that.

Cue me sniffling... darn dust in my eye!!

Okay so it's not just me. You expressed exactly what I was trying to. I don't mind being manipulated but this one is waay too phony.

Pretty sure that's a boy, not that it matters.

I think it's a sweet commercial, could be because I'm a nana to some precious little boys. :lovestruc

I guess it got me bc my boys say stuff like this all the time about my dad who they never even met...do you think Poppop would enjoy seeing me play baseball, do you think Poppop would have had fun at WDW with us, after seeing a picture of him in an Epcot shirt? And they are usually at pretty random times.

A papa here, married to a nana, to the four little guys down below. They can say things like that that do make us misty at times. Thanks, Deb, great commercial. And they all do like Cheerios.

I think you're right! That little face just looked girly to me, I guess. Watching it again, it does look like a little boy.

Makes me cry every time, either way... ::yes::

I can cry at the drop of a hat, but I'm not feeling it either. But I can be pretty cynical about corporate America trying to suck me in. Never really understood the big brouhaha about the Volkswagen Darth Vader commercial either. :confused3 (Altho, I know the little boy was sick and glad, last I heard, that he's OK.)
