Cheer & Dance Championship

I posted on the theme park touring page but no one answered. Perhaps over here someone might at least be able to tell me what effect might be felt at the hotel?

I noticed the Cheer & Dance Championships are scheduled on the last 2 weekends in Feb. Can someone tell me if this is at the Sports Complex or at DS? We are planning to stay at CS.

I remembering visiting in Dec one time when there was a cheerleading comp'n that was held in DS at the Indy stage area. There was only 1 Indiana Jones show daily during the comp'n and restricted park hours on 2 nights. LOTS and LOTS of cheerleaders everywhere and many staying at ASMo practicing their stuff WAY into the wee hours of the morning. (We were in a quiet wing but had friends in another area that just couldn't sleep w/ the practicing so late)

If anyone has any info'n about these weekends I'd love to hear it so we can plan accordingly.

I really wish I could get the search function to work on this site so I wouldn't have to post a question like this which I'm sure has been asked many times. Even when I try an Advanced Search it still comes back empty. Can anyone help me?

I've been there those two weekends for the past several years, and also have been there during Twirlmania once or twice (which is the weekend before these). I can't recall many issues. Indy was closed one or two days during the week for competitions (but I don't remember if it was Twirlmania or Cheer&Dance). They are not large in number, peppy, but generally well-behaved as teens go. Most stuff seems to happen at WWoS.

If you are allergic to teenage-girl-enthusiasm, you might want to try to steer clear of DS any day Indy is closed (your Times Guide will tell you these). Otherwise, no worries.

Thank you. That's pretty much my memory from many yrs back when we stumbled on a similar comp'n in Dec. We actually stopped and watched them for a bit at MGM. Was kind of neat. The line for TOT was outrageous that day (no FP back then) but that should be ok w/ FP this time around. Thanks again for some recent info'n/feedback!

There are also Dance and Cheer Championships in late April. I believe it's for USASF. Part of the competition is at Epcot and part is at WW of Sports Complex. I know other cheer divisions also have events scheduled in February - April. We will be there in late April, I hope it doesn't impact touring at Epcot too much.

We're staying in a value. IF there is a large group, do they tend to stick to one value vs others? Which one should I avoid "just in case"?

There's something going on there this weekend, DH saw several groups of cheerleader types and their chaperones inbound at MCO Wednesday evening.

Cheerleading Worlds are at the end of April. That is the end of cheerleading at Disney for the 2007/2008 competition season.

There are several different dance national finals that go on starting June 30. They run thru July. Some are at CSR. The one that starts June 30 is at the WDW Hilton.

They also stay at Moderates depending on what packages are offered to them. We ran into them @ POR, and others have posted seeing them at one or two other moderates.

There's quite a few different threads on DIS talking about the cheerleading competitions and the hotels that they stay at.

Maybe I am mistaken but isn't there something that goes on in December too?
I want to plan a vacation but I heard it might be best to avoid the week it goes on. Does anyone have the dates for December of this year?

You might be referring to POP WARNER which is football & cheerleading together. There's tons of threads on DIS regarding how bad it was this December. Probably easiest thing is just to search for the different threads. I believe somewhere on a few of the threads the dates for next year's competition has been posted.

Two years ago we were at ASMu with the cheerleaders.

They were fine... I was just quite pregnant and felt old & fat at the pool with them. But, I got over that quickly and well, enjoyed their enthusiasm.... kind of.

there is a cheer competition the beginning of March as well. Our squad of little ones was going to go, but we decided to wait until next year. The options of hotels for the package was ASSP or CBR. The afterparty of the competition was to be held at MGM studios. I think the Competition itself was going to be at ASSP or WWS.

and am sure there are plenty of Conventions, good time for them.

It makes sense that they advertise Wonderful Weeks during low occupancy weeks to encourage you to book.

Hopefully it won't impact the parks too much, but I would guess they are filling the hotels without much trouble or they would add those weeks.
