Hey Hazzi! How is Wales this morning? Evening for you I suppose!

Well, I find mascara to be quite the pain, even when you do have remover. It's a necessary evil for me though.

Should I ask how it looks? Is that something you can wear or will get in trouble for when your Mom see's you?

I guess I'd better get to work on Tricia's new installment! LOL

I promise I will really really try, but I'm at work right now and probably will be again tomorrow morning, simply because I am so far behind here! Not that I'm not behind at home, I just don't have anyone paying me to get stuff done at home, so this place wins! HA!

Hey Cheeky People,

Just got in the door at 2 AM this morning from NYC. Unfortunately, my flight out of Newark was delayed by winds for 2.5 hours, so I missed my connecting flight back to Lexington out of Charlotte. I had to scramble but the ticket agent got me a flight from Charlotte to Nashville. My wife wasn't happy about driving an extra hour to get to Nashville as opposed to Lexington, but I was so exhausted I just wanted to get home in whatever way possible. I just can't wait to repeat this process in another week or so. :(

I actually went into Manhattan yesterday to see where my job will be. It was good to walk around there again. The PATH station from Newark went straight into the WTC Ground Zero. As you ride in, you literally ride around the rim of that huge crater. It was stunning, moving, disquieting, whatever you want to call it. All the daily commuters in there were unfazed, but I was just looking out the windows with my jaw to the floor, almost crying. It was unbelievable. As you exit the station, you go by the open air exhibits next to the places where you can stand and view Ground Zero. I guess I wasn't expecting to be so emotional 5 years later, but the immensity of that crater really hits home if you haven't seen it before. Last time I was in NYC, the Twin Towers were of course still there.

When I go up there again, I'll probably stay within NYC, which probably means taking subway lines that don't go that close to the WTC site, but that unexpected little trip is something I won't forget anytime soon.

Another thing unexpected about NYC: what's up with those slick sidewalks that are apparently washed with a high-pressure hose every hour or something? It was like walking on glass. It rained a bit yesterday, so those sidewalks were like trying to walk on an ice rink without skates. I was afraid to hurriedly walk across streets for fear of falling and having one of those crazy NYC drivers run over me. I may need to get some hiking boots for my trip later on.

Morning! Ok, it's almost afternoon for me and certainly is for you so. . .

Good Afternoon!

I slept in this morning which was nice. After showering, eating and drinking my coffee I went in search of my dad next door. He was out working on his driveway. About a month ago, he lined the driveway with those bricks that are rippled on the top. I don't know what they are called. :confused3 He was never happy with the way they looked as it was downhill and not very straight. He was working on adding fill dirt (sand) and getting them straight. I helped him with sweeping the sand and keeping him company for about an hour. I made a comment that the part he hadn't straightened kind of resembled the Great Wall seeing as how it was so curvy. I think I offended him! He laughed it off though. He could see what I meant. Then I told him about all of you. He wanted to know about what kind of discussions went on here and I told him about a certain poster who will remain nameless that gives me the creeps. He was very concerned that this person might have my address! :rotfl: No way!

So that was my morning. Not a bad one if you ask me. Not sure what my afternoon will bring but I need to go Christmas shopping sometime. My mom's side of the family exchanges (but not opens) presents at Thanksgiving. This year we don't know when Thanksgiving will be as it depends on my cousin coming home from Afghanistan. That will be a true Thanksgiving.

Grim, glad you made it home safe. I haven't been back to NYC since 9/11 but I was there only 3 months prior. I am sure I would be hit like you were. Maybe that ride in was meant to be for you. You had your moment of rememberance. Maybe unexpected but still important. Hope you can enjoy the city when you go back.
