Cheeky Chicks (and a rooster) Can Cyber Chat For A Whole Year! Part 2

Hey Cheeky Chicks and Guys, I'm sittin' here in the lovely Garden Spot of the Garden State: Newark, NJ! Actually, the Marriott Courtyard I'm in is quite nice. I was supposed to be up here for 2 weeks on a job in Manhattan. That job has now been pushed back by a week, so I'll have to leave this veritable Eden tomorrow afternoon, after I go into Manhattan to the office I'll be working in later on, for a little reconnaisance of the area and the best places to stay and best ways to get to the office. Then I get to come back in a week or so.

No offense, Newark residents, but the commuting options from the Courtyard here aren't the best as to getting into Manhattan.

I've told our booking agents that it's either Manhattan, or failing that, NYC in one of the other boroughs so I can at least catch the MTA subway lines, for when I come back for my 2-week stint. My job will be in lower Manhattan, and there are beaucoup subway lines/stations that serve that area.

After finding out all this garbage with my delay, I quickly drowned my sorrows in a couple of Sierra Nevada Pale Ales. Good beer. Never had it before, but I look forward to buying some more of these. Made in Chico, CA. Nice town, Chico. I don't know if it has the natural beauty that Newark does, but it must be a nice place to produce a pale ale this good. Just kidding. I've been to Chico, and it really is a place that offers me views of things other than railroad tracks, large rock piles, smelly rivers, etc. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Newark. ;) Again, sorry to all you Newark residents, if anyone actually lives in this place.

Okay, while sitting here in lovely Newark, I'm watching the playoff finale between the Mets and Cards. I just saw the most amazing catch I've seen since the Reds (I'm a big Reds fan) were in the World Series. I'm for the Cards, but the Met who just stole a home run away from Scott Rolen must have leaped 3 or 4 feet over the wall to make that catch, and it was one of those "snowcone" jobs where the ball just barely stayed in the glove. Awesome, just so long as the Cards still pull it out later.

Word up Grim!

Sounds to me like you're in Fab Territory. I'd lay low if I were you. :rolleyes1

Hi Hazzi. Are you just getting home from school? I've been over on the Trip Report Board. I only have 29 more days. :hourglass Reading all the reports are really getting me excited about the trip.

Speaking of trip reports, CHRIS you reeled me in. I need another installment.

GoofyDad take it easy at work. I'm sure your hair looks good today. :teeth:

Hang in there hun... the weekend's coming!

I'm sure there are some really nice areas in NJ, and I've been to a few. Newark is not one of them. Sorry, but I'm telling the truth.

It's sort of like when my Mom used to tell me how great Chester, PA was when she was growing up there when her father worked in the shipyards during WWII. I visited Chester in the early 90's. It wasn't the place she talked about, to say the least. But I know for a fact PA has lots of great places, because I've been to them.

I'll chalk Newark up to being the "Not So Garden Spot" of the Garden State.

I mean, what can I say about the view this very nice Marriott Courtyard offers (this really is a nice Courtyard; as good as any I've stayed in)? The view outside my room literally is that of an onramp for I-78, and just before that onramp is a huge pile of rocks adjacent to the parking lot. The Courtyard tries, they really do, but they are handicapped by the location, obviously.

I'm rooting for the Cards in this NLCS finale, but I have to say this is one heck of a game. Kind of a pitcher's duel, but there have also been some awesome defensive plays, like that stolen home run by Chavez.

Go Cards!

Well, cheeky people, I'm going to log off for the night. I'll be sure to post something later about my trip into Manhattan tomorrow, when I'm safely ensconced back in KY tomorrow night. That is, if I can get around this big pile of rocks in the parking lot here in Newark to get to the PATH station going into NYC. ;)

Well, looks like I missed a chance to chat with Grim. :guilty: Still need him to get a bigger plane to take all us chicks (and Raoul of course) to WDW. You work on that Grim. . .

Well, sorry about your time in Newark. Never been to New Jersey but I have been to Manhattan. I loved it. Great city. I have been to Chico too. All I remember is that I was very hungry. I had a major low blood sugar moment and I was kind of sick, not to mention very, very grumpy. Wow, good memories. ;)

So, who wants to hear my stupid moment of the day? Huh? Anyone? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway. This morning I was late for work because I couldn't find a shoe. Just one shoe was missing and I looked everywhere I could think. I remember them being together the other day but now one was missing. I gave up, wore different shoes and went to work. Just now, I sit down at my computer and look down only to see the missing shoe. I couldn't figure out why it would be in here but then I remembered that I had a HUGE spider coming for me the other night, and after grabbing the dog, I ran in the bedroom to grab a shoe, put down the dog and whacked the monster. So, that's my stupid moment of today. Tomorrow, I am sure there will be another. :rolleyes1

Didn't want to make you wait for my next stupid moment as it happened just about 30 seconds ago. :confused3

After submitting my post, I clicked User CP and saw that DMM had updated her trip report, clicked on it and read it. Sooooo funny, you must read! Anyway, my typical thing is to then click on the Community Board up top and check out what's up. Clicked up top, and couldn't figure out what the heck all the trip reports were doing in the CB. I was ready to PM a Mod. Finally realized where I was and quickly got out. I tell ya, I need to go to bed. :sad2:

Good Morning Cheeky Chicks and lovely Gents.
Wow, two gents here in one day. Well, all the fog and rain from yesterday gave us a little cool weather for today. Nice. :teeth:

TGIF :woohoo:

Good morning everyone! :sunny:

I'm glad it's Friday too!

Good Morning Cheeky Chicks & gents!

Hey Tricia~ how's that coffee? Hey Joanne!!!! I'm off to work, we've having our last men's & women's soccer games this weekend, so I have to get the programs and officials info ready for that.
Next weekend is homecoming, so that's an extremely busy weekend.... we have the Alumni brunch down at the football field, so I have a line of 700+ people/cars instead of 200.... :wizard:

I think my drivel sign disappeared...... :sad2:

Hey, you all come up with about $200,000 collectively (the cost of a decent plane to carry 5 or 6 people), and I'll get right on upgrading my plane. :thumbsup2

Your stupid moment doesn't sound nearly as dumb as mine: mocking Fab's state, even if Newark is probably a place she would mock herself. :guilty:

I'm off to NYC this AM to see where my work will be in the next few weeks. I've certainly been there before, but only as a tourist.

See you cheeky people later.

I happen to have a cup sitting right next to my computer. :surfweb: It's nice and hot and oh so good.

You sound busy as usual Jeanny. Try and have a good weekend in between on that work.

Grim enjoy New York.

Hey y'all!

You know how I said yesterday that I was full of crap and that I'd have plenty of time to DIS today? Yep, I'm full of crap about that too.

I got an email late yesterday afternoon from the owner of the building about a change to one of these units. He's acting as his own design architect, while my firm is acting as the production architect (he makes the major design decisions, we produce the drawing package to get it all done). He'll stamp & sign the final drawing package, which relieves us of most (if not all) of any potential liability. That's pretty common on larger projects, especially if the client has its own design staff.

So now we're reconfiguring the master bathroom / closet in one of our units to make it work out a bit better, per this email. But these changes means we have to move the demising wall that separates this unit from the next one. So I really have to make changes to two units (but the second unit changes really are minor stuff - shift a wall 8" over and update the shelving - that'll take 2 minutes tops). And these two units are typical on 10 different floors. Which changes about 30 sheets total in my drawing package. And the engineers get to deal with these last-minute changes too.

For my part this is 8 to 10 hours worth of work for me or one of our draftspeople, since almost everything is referenced to just a few master files. Meaning when one of us make changes in one file, the other files referencing that one automatically get changed too.

Arrrrggggghhhhh. pirate:

Frustrating. I had my hopes up to slack through the day today doing busy-work. Productive busy-work, but busy-work nonetheless. And since I knew this week would be a slow week on this project, I released our draftpeople from this project until the middle of next week. Which means I'm probably gonna have to make all these changes by myself, unless somebody else is finished with what they're doing and is twiddling their thumbs today. I've gotta go ask around, but I'm not counting on anything good. We've got two other major projects active in this office right now, which doesn't make my chances of immediate help look very good.

See ya all later and have a good weekend!

Morning. :wave2:

Time for a nap. Or work. Whatever.

Hellloooooooo? Anyone around? Do ya'll have me on ignore? Was it my spider story? What happened? I'm getting a complex. :guilty:

Hi ya Susan. I'm here. I've been reading lots of trip reports. Getting all excited about my upcoming trip.

Slow day at the office?

"Days" - Hope is getting on my nerves a lot lately.

Hey Tricia. :wave2:

Yes, slow day for me. I have worked on a golf package to Palm Springs which is about as exciting as an ant walking across my desk. I am waiting for an e-mail from my supplier and then I can call my client. Until then, nothing.

I need to start reading some DL trip reports. My little mini-trip is coming up too. I can't wait. I really need to get away.

So, I have your voice (or what I imagine it to sound like) along with my aunt's in my head telling me to watch Days at every moment. So, I watched a few more episodes. Will's back (I wish they would re-cast him), Patrick's still in jail, Marlena's missing, Austin and Carrie are smooching. Pretty exciting stuff. :p
