Good morning! I really, really, really wish it were closer to the weekend.

GD, did you have a good birthday?

GW, I wanted to tell you how impressed I am with the fact that you have some of your Christmas shopping done. I actually had a dream last night where it was Christmas and I only had my mom's gift. Oops. :rolleyes1 The thing is, I do have my mom's gift!

Hi ya Grim. I think your story sounds like a good one. GD will of course pop in and say he was busy with work. :rolleyes1

Susan I must say I'm impressed with myself this year too. :lmao: What a good feeling having bought Christmas presents already. Now I need to remember where I put them because when I start wraping presents in December I want these to be accounted for. :teeth:

I got a catalog yesterday and really examined it trying to think of everyone I might need to buy for. I ended up wanting one thing - for myself. I don't think I'm quite ready for Christmas shopping. The only reason I have something for my mother is because she saw some Tinkerbell earings on QVC and I ordered them on the sly. Oh! I also have a Cabbage Patch doll for my neice because they have the same name. It might be for her birthday though. We'll have to see.

Susan I saw on QVC last week a Disney jewelry special. Is that when you ordered it?

Yes. We watched a little of it together and she kept talking about these earings, so I went online and ordered them. They are item # J25824 if you want to see what they look like. I also tried to order a bracelet for myself but it was waitlisted.

Thanks for the item number, I'll go check them out. I'm off now to try and play catch up with Days of our Lives. I missed so much over the summer. Now that the kids are back in school I'm trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Not too hard with soaps though. :wave2:

I was wondering if you still watched Days. I'm perpetually behind. I think I'm on July 10th right now. I started fast forwarding through the stuff with Jett and Jeremy. I'm more interested in the Dimera stuff.

Good Morning.

Susan another day closer to the weekend for you. One more to go. :cool1: Do you have big plans? I do still watch Days but am not enjoying the younger crowd right now. I could do without that whole story line and just concentrate on the Dimera - Brady fued.

I've got my walking shoes on again this morning and boy is it hot out there.

I did have a good birthday! I did the whole work thing and it was a busy day. After work we picked up the kids and met some friends for dinner. Nothing fancy - McAlisters. Most of my birthday gift was our trip to WDW at the beginning of the month. I got Augusten Burrough's "Possible Side Effects" and "Stranger Than Fiction" on DVD from KAMommy, and the kids got me a Star Wars Complete Cross Sections book.

Nothing crazy happened. That I can remember.

Yesterday was crazy-nuts. No time at work for DISing. I mowed the yard last evening after it started to get "cool" (our high yesterday was 101, when I started mowing at 7:00 it was 99). When I got done mowing / showering I spent a few minutes on the internet but didn't come visit y'all. Sorry. Too lazy to log KAMommy off and log in as myself.

House news:
We've decided to stand pat in our current house. Adam told us he would prefer to attend the high school we're currently zoned for rather than the other school. We're looking at doing an addition to our house to create some more space. We'll be looking for land but there's no major rush to do that now.

That I can remember.

:scared1: I hope there's no proof you went all Mel Gibson on anybody. :rotfl2:

Our high was 100 yesterday, and is supposed to be 101 today. This is the hottest August, by far, in my lifetime. It's probably the hottest overall month in this area since the dust bowl days of the 1930's.

Speaking of dust bowl, I've mowed my yard maybe 7 times this summer. I have not mowed once this month yet (and won't need to anytime soon), mowed twice in July, and once in early June. It's amazing to me that one state north of here they are having once-in-a-century flooding and we can't buy a storm. I realize rainfall is pretty much a "closed loop" type of setup in the big picture, but it's just odd from a local/regional perspective to see this. Today will be the 5th or 6th 100+ day here, in an area that had not seen 100 even once since 1999.

Of course this means we're finally going to have a winter that features at least one blizzard around here. We've not seen a snowfall more than 6 or 8" in 10 years now, I think. But from my childhood memories, it always seemed like the harshest summer heat was followed by huge snowstorms each winter. It'll be nice to have some actual sled-able snow here, as long as it's all over with by early March.

Good Morning! I feel for those of you sweating in the heat right now. I grew up with extremely hot summers.

GD, glad you had a good birthday but sorry you had to work. I always thought that our birthdays should be our own personal paid holiday. ::yes::

Tricia, I so agree with you on that younger crowd on Days. I just have no interest in them at all. I must be getting old.

This weekend is a big rummage sale at the school I used to work at and where my mom is currently the administrator. I can't help tomorrow but on Saturday I am taking a shift or two. I am also getting my hair cut which I am terribly excited about. I usually get my hair cut to shoulder length about twice a year. The last time, I was convinced to keep it long and just had it trimmed. Now it is way too long for my taste and I am not going to listen to anyone who tries to convince me to keep it that way. Other than the rummage sale and the hair cut my weekend will consist of house chores, grocery shopping (I'm down to olives, milk and apple juice in my fridge) and hopefully some time to scrapbook.

Mel Gibson? Don't think so - I'm not a surly drunk. I'm a *happy*, mellow drunk. Very clumsy too.

We've had water rationing in effect since August 1 in our county. Basically all I had to mow were the long crabgrass stalks, everything else is too dry to grow. I don't even have dandelions. At least I gave the dust a good swirl around the yard.

I wouldn't mind a blizzard, honestly.

I had a day off planned originally, but I got slammed with a bunch of little projects. I had to cancel it, but it ain't a huge deal since I'll be back at WDW in 42 days. I don't mind working on my birthday. I wish I could have slept in, but oh well.

Well, maybe next year. . .

Well, maybe next year. . .

Here's hoping! Actually, the last couple of years have been slow for the firm. So I hope (in a twisted way) to not be able to take time off next year either... Just as long as that doesn't get in the way of Disney trips. Perish the thought.

I am looking forward to my birthday after next because it actually falls on a Saturday! :woohoo:

My 39th falls on a Tuesday, and then my 40th falls on a Thursday, being in 2008 (leap year). I really, really, really do not want to have to work on the day after my 40th birthday.

Today's high, so far, is 104. One hundred and four. I absolutely cannot believe that. That is now the highest recorded temperature ever in my hometown. It tops the old highest ever temperature of 103.

It's now down to a chilly 102.

Time to get out those sweatshirts! Brrr. I really hate the heat. I'd rather be cold than hot. When I'm cold, I can put more clothes on, add a blanket or two. When I'm hot, short of stripping for the office, I'm in trouble. :rolleyes1 This is why I don't visit my friends in my hometown during the summer.

I get to go to lunch soon! :cool1: I'm starving!

I was wrong earlier. The high is a moving target. It went to 105 a few minutes ago, and now it's back down to 104.
