Just wondering, do the stores and or restaurents accept personal checks?

Personal checks drawn on U.S. banks are accepted for most purchases and dining at the World; however, be sure you have two forms of ID with you. You can settle your resort bill with a personal check, but you cannot charge back to your room unless you've left a credit card on file with the resort, or have left a large cash deposit. If you choose to leave a credit card for charging, but want to pay your final bill with a check on the morning that you check out, go to the front desk and explain that you want to remove all charges from your credit card and pay for them with a check. You will not be able to take advantage of express checkout if you do this, so be prepared for the possibility that you'll have to wait in line to check out. Don't cut it too close to the time you need to leave, or you may get a bad surprise, as lines can be very long and slow-moving.

Banking in the parks and resorts is pretty much limited to ATM machines these days. You may be able to cash a personal check at your resort. Call the resort directly and ask so you won't be disappointed when you arrive. If you are not able to cash a check at the resort, there is a SunTrust Bank branch located on Buena Vista Drive across the street from Downtown Disney. Take a bus from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney and cross Buena Vista Drive at Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Be VERY careful crossing--this is a very large and busy intersection frequented by tourists who aren't familiar with the roads they're driving on.

All that said, I think you will find it much easier to use a credit card, travelers' checks, an ATM/Debit card or some combination of the three instead of personal checks.
