Checkout Day Questions About GF and CR

Hi Disfriends!

I am working through the final details of our fall trip. We are staying at GF on our DVC points, and our flight departs MCO on 11/16 at 6 pm, and we do not plan to go into the parks on this day. We have brunch booked at Grand Floridian Cafe at 11:25 am, so we have some time to kill before we need to head to the airport. We would like to either spend some time at the pool at the GF or hop over to CR and play pickleball. Either way, we'll need a place to get a shower and get cleaned up before we head to the airport and fly home.

So, my question is this: where can we access a shower and a place to clean up at either the GF or CR after we check out and after we pool or pickleball? Any advice would be fantastic! TIA!

Usually the main pools have bathrooms with toilets, and changing rooms with showers nearby. I have stayed at both but I couldn't tell you exact location.

@Judique Thanks for confirming that there is someplace at both GF and CR to grab a quick shower.

I’m not sure which shower areas are accessible without a room key. Generally all the DVC resorts have showers near the pool and some in the gym (usually the nicer of the two).

You will be able to use GF resort amenities all day, even after you checkout at 11am. The gym next to Senses spa has showers or you can use the showers by the pool.

CR may require room key for access? For sure you will have shower access at Grand Flo.

Wow, I had no idea that my BLT had pickle ball or that there were full on showers not in the rooms for use after checkout, good to know!

We like taking later flights too, i just dont like to be in a rush during breakfast or packing

@Girlstar30 I'm with you! We like to schedule a late flight on checkout day so we are not in a rush! This is the latest flight I've ever booked (6 pm departure from MCO) and so I wanted to make sure I could clean up after pickleball.

If something requires a room key and the key they have (key, magic band) doesn't work, front desk will accommodate. You are a resort guest until midnite of check out day.

You are a resort guest at the resort you book, not a resort you visit. You cannot use the pools at other resorts if you are not a guest there. The FD may give you access to shower facilities at a resort you aren't/weren't staying at, but I would not count on it. It won't be a problem at the GF, but could be at the CR.

Granted, that's not what DH and I would do...if we wanted pool time, we'd just use the GF pool. But, I'm pretty sure that GF does not have pickleball courts, but I know that CR does, because DH and DS have played on them before. I was thinking we could hop to CR to use the pickleball courts. I just wasn't sure about showering afterwards. I think everyone on the plane would be grateful if we showered before flying home.

No, there is no pool hopping allowed anymore, not even for DVC members. You can only use the pool at the resort you are staying at. Now the pickleball courts, I can not answer that one. Problem is, the showers are usually inside the pool fencing and you need a resort key/MB to enter. Even guests staying at the CR aren't allowed to use the pool at BLT even though they are connected. There are numerous threads here about pool hopping!

@Mle8308 Thanks so much for clarifying the pool hopping info. That's definitely not the plan on our checkout day. We'll be using the GF pool if we decide we want to "pool". I know that DH and DS have used the CR's pickleball courts when we've stayed at GF before. But, now I'm wondering if that's not allowed anymore? I definitely don't want to break any rules.
