We had major issues the last time we did a split stay, so I want to make sure we avoid any issues. At the end of our first reservation, are we automatically checked out at 11:00 or do I need to go to the front desk? Do I do online check-in for the second stay (DVC)?

I haven't gone to the Front Desk and checked out of a WDW resort in about 8 years. We do split stays all the time and never had any issues.

Do I do online check-in for the second stay (DVC)?

We always do.

Basically everything dansdad said. I don’t know if I’ve ever gone to the desk to check out at a disney hotel. We just did a split stay between yc and pofq, using online check in for both. We didn’t have any issues

Thanks, dansdad & Haley R. I was just second guessing because last time we did a split stay, my DMX account became corrupted and it took approximately two hours every day working with guest services to get things to straighten out.

We had problems when we didn't check out of the first resort before trying to check into the second. It only takes a minute to check out, so I'd do that before trying to check into another resort.

We had heard that you need to physically check out of the first resort in order to avoid issues, but that was not our experience as we still had issues, and then the second resort told us we should have physically checked out of the first resort at the front desk, when we told them that's exactly what we did they didn't exactly seem to believe us. From now on I will not be physically checking out, if I can still have issues either way I would rather just not waste my time at the first resort and take my chances.

Do the online check in if you're going from resort #1 straight away to the parks. If you do not, I don't think you can room charge, if you have the dining plan, it won't compute. This just happened to me this past Nov. It was all straightened at the front desk of resort #2 that same night and explained to me that I hadn't completed my online check in with my phone.

I really don’t know if it’s still an issue, but if you’re going straight to the second resort before official checkout time at the first resort, we needed to check OUT in person.

If you’ll hit the second resort after checkout time then it’s not really an issue (apart from glitches which, by their nature and definition, can’t be predicted or controlled).

We check it just to make sure we everything is in order as far as luggage transfer. We also get the dining plan and I check to see what and how many credits I need to use by midnight.
