Checking out of resort 2 days early???

We currently have a split reservation (room only) - the first 3 nights for 12/31-1/3 and the second 3 nights for 1/3-1/6. The first 3 nights are at the holiday rate, the second 3 are at the value rate. The system would not allow us to book one or two nights, it had to be three - the CM tried and tried and he wasnt' sure why. We figured there must be a 3 night minimum for that particular resort (POP) as we could've done just one night at Sports. Anyway, I was checking into the latest promo and wondered if I were to book the package for 1/1-1/6, could I cancel the second part of the split ressie, keep the first part intact, and simply check out after the one night. Is there any type of penalty for doing this? POP doesn't have any rooms available for the 31st anymore and I really wouldn't want to mess with that part of the split ressie for fear of losing it.

Is this doable? We really don't need the tickets this trip, but would buy some to use later since the room is discounted too. I'm thinking that this may be more trouble than it's worth...

You can check out after one night, but you'll still have to pay for all three nights. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

If that's the case, I definitely wouldn't do it. Can anyone confirm this? Do you think if I call reservations, they would know the answer or would I need to ask the hotel itself?

if they require a 3 day minimum you are going to have to pay for all 3. If you wanted to cancel the 2 days, you would still be required to cancel 5 days in advance and when you do that, it will cancel the other day too, due to the requirement.
