Checking into POR at daybreak but what time...

does the buses running to the parks start picking up?? We are flying in late the night before and staying 1st night at the roach motel ($28 nt) then wanted to check in to POR about 6am next morning (i know we wont have a room ready, but since we are doing the land/sea pkg, we have to pick up our park passes at check in at POR. We are planning on doing MK for the EE on this day, but what time do the buses start transporting? We want to get to the park gate about 45 min - 1 hr before opening. Do the buses run that early, or should we just plan on driving our rental car?

Buses will run 2 hours before park opening. On EE days it may be more like 1 1/2 hours. They seem to run more frequently closer to park opening time, but you should not have any trouble getting there. I would not advise driving to the MK...since you have to park over by the TTC and then take ferry or monorail over to the park...it is much easier to just ride the bus. I don't know when you are going, but unless it is a super busy week I don't think there is any advantage to getting there an hour before opening. They do not open the turnstiles to enter until exactly at opening time and an hour is a LONG time to stand out in the sun waiting to get in. 15 minutes before opening is really plenty if you already have tickets in hand.

When I was there a week ago the bus for MK started running at 7:15.

I agree. You do not want to stand outside the Mk that early for an hour. It is chilly that early! We stood outside AK for an hour in the beginning of Dec 2002 and froze! Granted, it will take you appoximately 45 minutes to get there and get in line but you don't really need to be there until about 10-15 minutes before opening. It is not peak season so the crowds should be limited.
