Our plane will be getting in after midnite so we probably will be getting to our resort about 1:30am after luggage and rental car etc.. Are we better off going right to the wilderness lodge and staying there that night and hope we get a good room with our request through cro & faxing, OR should we stay at the dolphin overnight for 2 nites ( I have 1 free nite if you stay 1 nite coupon) BUT we are already moving 3 times this trip cause of universal trip in middle, for 2 nites. This way when we go to WL we can check in early to hopefully get a better selection of room?

Is this too confusing? Are we trying to move to much? Usually try to do US before than its I wish I was at wdw, or after wdw its I wish we didn't leave wdw, so we are trying it in the middle? We really do like US & fotl & PBH, so we are not dropping that.

Guess I should say this is all over an 18 nite trip. Thanks, MKY

Because you will be arriving so very late did you ever think of getting a room close to the airport & then driving to WDW the next morning & checking into WL at that time? I love WDW and am definitely pro on-site, but it seems a shame to pay so much for one night (actually just about 1/2 night :D )

You could check in early the next morning at WL. I would suggest that or to use the buy one/get one coupon at the Dolphin. Whatever you decide, have a great time.

We stayed at BWI about 3 weeks ago and we arrived around 10:30. CM at front desk said that after 9:00 pm the rooms are automatically assigned. I requested (and faxed) a room on the uppermost floor and did not receive it. CM would not look for one on the 5th floor. By that time I was too pooped from traveling to argue. I would stay elsewhere and check in at WL early the next day.

I checked in at 2:30am one time and got the absolute worst room at the BC. No balcony/patio, the view was of teh back of the buildings facade about 5 feet from the window. Luckily it was only for one night, or I would have demanded a different one--it was an embarressment that they'd even rent that one. Plus I was paying rack--no discounts!!

I've also checked in to the BWV late (around or after midnight), and always gotten a decent room.

Thanksgiving last year we checked into the Contemporary at about 1am. At first they had given us 3 connecting rooms on the water view side. We said we would prefer MK view. We ended up on different floors but with great rooms. Mine was on the 8th floor at the end of the hall closest to the MK. I think it makes absolutely no difference when you check in. i would prefer to just get there so you can make a great start the next day. Even if you sleep in you are that much closer and don't have to deal with another check in.

Ok so this is about what I was already thinking, its about 50% gamble we will get a decent room or 50% gamble it will suck. I guess we could ask to move at WL if we really get a nasty room? cause we would be there a week. But am kinda interested in trying out the dolphin for the "free" nite with only paying 1 nite RN rate. Still confused here  MKY

My greatest fear about checking in late is that all of the non-smoking rooms will be taken. This has happened to us once when checking into BWV at 5 pm! We like the late flights because they are usually uncrowded (and you often get a rental car upgrade when arriving late!), but I always get a 3* Priceline hotel near the airport for that night for under $50. We can be in our room and in bed within an hour of landing that way. I make sure our overnight needs are at the top of our suitcases (no unpacking), and we're ready to go early the next day. Well, earlier anyway. We often do this in reverse if we have an early flight home. I think the Dolphin is a good option too. One advantage to driving through Orlando very late is less traffic! Just make sure you know your way around, nothing worse than being lost very late at night. Diana

I think it makes a big difference if you are going during a high occupancy time. If you are you will get the worst room at the resort. If the resort is only 1/2 full you will have a much better chance of getting a good room. With a rental car I would get a priceline room off site and drive in early the next day even if I was going to use the coupon at the D/S. I would not spend the money on a Disney resort to be checking in so late. All you need is a clean comfortable room for 7-8 hours and you can get that off PL for 1/3 of the cost.

I would do what others have suggested: stay off site at a cheap hotel and then venture over to WL really early.
We checked into BC at 1:30am and also got one of the worst rooms. The only consolation was that we decided(once we were there) to extend our trip by 1 night and talked it over with the manager. He then gave us a nicer room for the last night and only charged us half price because of our late arrival.
