Checking in time for AKL?

We'll be checking out of the Radisson and into the AKL on 6/3 for the remainder of our trip. We'd also like to go to AK that day. Any ideas which would be easier - either checking in early before the park opens, getting a key, and coming back later, or going to the park for opening, coming back in the afternoon to check in?

Does anyone have any experience with this and can offer any suggestions?

I have not done this at AKL, but at other disney resorts, I have had no problem "checking in" incredibly early. They usually do not have our room ready, but they will store our luggage and give us our park passes. Then, when we are ready for a break (okay -- we're never ready for a break -- we attack and conquer the parks), we go back and get our room assignment. This has worked VERY well for us.

We just came back from Akl and I would try to check in early first. If the room is not ready, you can take the bus to the park (very easy) and not worry about all your stuff baking in your car. You will love that hotel!

This resort is fantastic, you will have so much fun. I suggest checking in incredibly early and then come back in the afternoon for your room.

Thanks to everyone for the great advice. I too think it'd be easier to check in, leave our bags, take the transportation and then come back in the afternoon to get our room key. We'll all be tired and it'll be nice not to drive/carry our bags after spending the day at the park.
