We will be arriving at POR the sunday after Thanksgiving.

We will be driving this year due to spending the week of Thanksgiving in two different areas of Florida with family.

On Sunday morning we plan to leave early to arrive at WDW. We'll only be about 45 minutes away.

I know that I am going to have to check in first, but when is the earliest I can check in?

Am I going to be able to check in early and then head out to the park? It won't be a huge deal if we don't have the room available right away because we will have a car and can drive to the park for the first part of the day.

Yes, you can absolutely check in early then head to the park. They will be happy to store your luggage for you if your room is not ready. I think you can check in as early as you need to, as long as its the day of your arrival! I have heard of people checking as early as 7:00 a.m. Have a fun trip! And you will love POR...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are CMs at the registration desk 24/7. We've checked in as late as 2 am and as early as 7 am. There were plenty of other guests around at these times (had to stand in a short line at Pop for the 2 am check-in).

Yes, the lobby check in areas are open 24/7. I too have checked in at some weird hours of the day and night! Since Magical Express runs 24 hours they need to be able to check people in.

Thanks so much guys!

Thanks! We stayed in POR last year, it was our first ever WDW trip and the resort was just beautiful!

What time is the room usually ready? We checked in really late last year so I have no idea.

I want to say they tell you rooms will be ready by something like 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. They give you a number you can call from your cell at the parks to check and see if your room is ready. At least they did when we checked in early at Saratoga Springs awhile back. That way I called and knew not to bother leaving the park until I had a room. Sometimes rooms are ready much earlier than others, it just depends on how many check outs they had and what the occupancy level is. I would imagine that the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend will be having lots of people checking out, meaning your room may not be ready until later in the afternoon. Have fun!
