Hello all!

I haven't been posting much of late, as I have been very busy with new responsibilities at work. I just wanted to take a moment to say hello and to wish you all a lovely weekend.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill - good to see the Shooter name back on the boards over here again.

Hope your weekend is good too :D - will you be on duty?

Hey Bill :) Thank you for checking in :) ......... hope you and yours have a great weekend too!

No ma'am!

This weekend I will be working in the yard, going to see "Lilo & Stich" with my wife and daughter, and trying to get some sleep!

Hi Bill, What's the weather like in Virginia at the minute. Can you see those lovely Blue ridge mountains and Shenandoah Valley.

Ahhhhhh

jj......;)

JJ,

As we speak the temperature is a lovely 30 (C) degrees. There is a slight breeze and the skies are clear. I would have to drive west a bit to see the Shenendoahs, but I will assume that the weather there is as nice as it is here.

Hi Bill,
Nice to hear from you again. Sounds like a good weekend for you.
We are coming to D.C. & Virginia for the second half of Sept. Will you have some nice weather for us?
Best Wishes,
Carol:cool:

K&C,

You can expect lovely weather here in late september. Temperatures of 30-35C during the day are not uncommon.

Are you coming for work or play? Have you been here before? There is so much to see and do! (can you tell that I like it here?)

If you need anything before or during your visit, please let me know. I would be more than happy to help.

Cheers!

Bill

Hi again Bill,
Hope your weekend was a good one.
We have been to the States many times now but this will be our first time to Virginia.
This is a Vacation to celebrate our Ruby Wedding which is in November. We are flying into Dulles and have 3 days at Days Inn , Crystal City, then 3 nights in Roanoake, 2 nights in Richmond, 2 nights in Williamsburg and 4 nights at Virginia Beach.
We will be driving (well at least Keith will) and are used to finding our way around in your beautiful Country but if you have any advice for us we would be very happy to hear it.
Looking forward to that beautiful weather already:cool:
Cheers!
Carol:D

Carol,

Make sure you go to the National Air & Space museum, which is quite convenient to Crystal City via metrorail (the subway system).

Hmmm, I don't know if you have a Disney store where you are, but there is a store in the Pentagon City Mall which is quite near your hotel.

While here, visit "Old Town" Alexandria (less than 5 miles away), The Smithsonian museums, The White House (although it is small and not terribly exciting). Potomac Mills Mall is 30 miles south of the city (near my house)... it is a huge shopping outlet that seems to draw quite a few British travellers. While you are travelling to Roanoke, stop either at Perkins or the Cracker Barrel restaraunts (found along any major highway, and enjoy some southern cuisine (Try the "Chicken Fried" steak).

There is more... let me think!

Morning Bill,
MMMMMMMMM. Shopping & eating-two of my favourite things!
We have a Disney Store in a nearby town but it is small & carries mostly things for tiny tots.
Our DD in wheelchair collects the china Disney figurines. She has quite a collection now so I have to go into every Disney Store to hunt out more (that's my excuse!).
We love Perkins (caramel apple pie a la mode) and Cracker Barrel. We went to our 1st C.B. about 17 years ago, just outside Atlanta, & have been fans ever since.
I love their gift shops, I could happily browse there for ages. Wish we had enough luggage allowance to bring home some of their goodies!

A word of advice about the traffic around here--stay off the roads during the rush hours! It's absolutely horrible. If you have three passengers in your auto, you can make use of the HOV lanes, which helps a lot.

Also, I don't think the White House is open for visits anymore. Another suggestion is the Holocaust museum. The Corcoran has a wonderful exhibit of the clothes that Jackie Kennedy wore while she was First Lady; it runs through September. Here's the link for info on that exhibit: http://www.corcoran.org/JK/index.htm

Also, the Potomac Mills Mall (which was mentioned previously) has a Disney Store Outlet, where you can pick up some good deals if you're lucky. You can't miss that mall, it's right off of I-95, it has its own exit. ;)

Enjoy!
