We are arriving on July 24 for a week at Old Key West. Should we try and arrive early or since it will be Saturday, we shouldn't worry a room location? Also my daughter will be there on Friday at All-Stars and then checkin with us on Saturday. Can she checkin for me or will she have to wait unit we arrive?

Anyone having any experience with when the rooms are ready on Saturdays? I know during the week they are not usually ready until after 4, but didn't know if Saturdays were different. We are in a two bedroom if this makes a difference.

We are about six to seven hours away and do not want to arrive three hours before the room is ready.

Thanks,
Becky

Is your daughter's name on the ressie? If not, she may have to wait until you get there to check-in. OKW staff will ask for an ID to confirm the ressie.

It's kind of luck of the draw for rooms to be ready before 4pm. July is a busy month so there may be fewer rooms ready early, if any. With a two bedroom you may have to wait for both sides (one bedroom and studio) to be ready if it's a lock-off. That could also delay check-in until 4pm.

What many of us do is check-in early to at least get the paperwork completed and get your keycard. OKW will then give you a number to call to find out if your unit is ready. You can leave any luggage or groceries with the bellstaff and enjoy the afternoon.

We once had a guest who arrived at 8 am when we weren't going to be there until noon. We assumed he would have to wait, but they gave him a key and got him set up in the 2 bedroom unit by 10 am! I wouldn't sweat the location too much. We have rarely gotten into a unit early during high occupancy times.

We checked in at 8:00 am Saturday, June 19th at OKW and the room was ready with no wait. That was our third time to check in early on Saturday, twice during spring break and once during the summer, (a GV, 1br and 2br) and each time the room was ready--so we've been lucky with Saturday check ins. However, we check in early to get our paperwork out of the way and then head to the parks so it isn't a big deal to us if the room isn't ready. As far as your daughter checking you in, I was asked for a photo i.d. at both OKW and BWV in order to check in last month so she would probably have to be on the reservation. Have a great stay at OKW!!!

I think this is the policy now. I was sending someone to OKW on a trip without me. When I told MS what I was doing they mentioned "it's fine, just be sure they bring a photo ID to check-in".

Be sure your daughter's name & the names of anyone else who is staying with you is on the reservations if you want them to be able to get a room without you being present. We have never had a problem adding names to our reservations.

does your daughter generally get up early on her days off?

if yes - call MS - add her name to your reservations - and she can check in.

if no - is that a way to start a vacation - making someone get up early to check you in - when you will be there in a few hours.

Sorry if this sounds mean - but hey it is her vacation too, right?

I don't know about the busier times but we checked into a 1 br last Sept on a Sat and were in our room by 8am. My parents checked into their Studio on Sun am and got their room at 7:30. I was so great. Started the vacation on a great foot!!!!!

Thanks Pat for the advice, but she and a friend are going to Animal Kingdom. I wanted her to be able to go to the room before we arrive if it is ready and she wants to. She is only going to do part of AK and then MK that night.

I was in HH in June and checked in first and went to the beach house since the room wasn't ready yet. About an hour later, she called me, had arrived, and they had let her in the room as it was ready.

I wasn't certain if they would let her in until I arrived and I wanted her to have this option if she wanted it.

When I said room location, I should have really mentioned nonsmoking. She has asthma and cannot be in a smoking room so I always try and get one. A couple of times at BWVs we had a smoking optional room and could not be moved.

Thanks for all of the help. It has been about six years since we have stayed at OKW and are looking forward to it.
