Do any of you find it more convenient to do your grocery trip after you check in rather than on your way? We will be driving down and will have little room for groceres or anything else.

Just Curious because I don't want to take a lot of time away from our trip either.

We almost always do our grocery shopping after we check-in; but we usually fly down the night before and stay at a Fairfield Inn or Courtyard near the airport, then we check-in early the next morning. Since we know our room won't be ready, after we check-in we go to the parks, then for an afternoon break we'll do the grocery shopping.

We fly and usually arrive around 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., check in and because we know our room won't be ready, we go and have lunch and get groceries and come back. It usually works out pretty well because then when the room is ready, we unpack our bags and groceries and then we are free to do whatever we want. We're usually pretty tired from an early flight, etc. so this gives us time after we settle in to relax and then plan what we want to do for the evening.

We like to grocery shop after getting our room. 2 of the 3 times we stayed at OKW our room was ready on arrival, so we unloaded the luggage and then went for groceries. 1 time it wasn't so we left the luggage in the trunk and went for groceries (it was around 2:30-3:00 so we knew the room would be ready when we got back). We had to put all the groceries in the back seat, it was a little inconvenient. At BWV, we always unload the luggage at the valet area and check it when we get there, so the trunk is empty when we go for groceries even if the room is not ready.

Our plane usually lands around 1:50PM. By the time we get our bags and rental car its nearing 3PM. We then stop at the grocery store before we check in, as we'll know that its truely a vacation once we are 'home'.

As our flight is usually arriving before 10, we go to DW first and check in, maybe go to the pool for a while, and go out later after we have our room. Though I've heard they will store perishables for you, we go out anyway. Another advantage of having a rental.

We always get groceries after check-in.

First, there's usually not enough room for groceries with all our luggage. :o

Second, I hate leaving groceries (milk) out if the room's not ready - even bell services don't take them to refrigeration immediately. Florida weather can get hot. So, 15 minutes makes a differnce, I think.

Third, not everyone has to go food shopping. Dh & I both drive and know how to get around. Sometimes, if time is tight, (especially late in the evening) one of us goes to the store while the other settles down the kids (for bed). If it's early, the kids like to go shopping so we usually make a trip out of it.

We usually check in, and while I do the unpacking, hubbie goes to the grocery store. While he buys extra things I wouldn't buy and doesn't look for the bargains like I would, lol, it saves us both alot of time. He never grocery shops so he actually enjoys it on vacation - go figure. I just give him a basic list and off he goes :)

We sometimes get our groceries after check-in if our room is not ready. However, if we have AP's, we go to the parks immediately and leave the shopping for "late night" after the parks close. Goodings is open 24 hours!! :D

We always check-in mid-afternoon, rest an hour, then get all of the grocery shopping for the week out of the way. With BWV we always sent our groceries up through bell services, but with the proximity of the non-lobby BCV entrances to the parking lot, we simply made a couple of trips upstairs and we were done for the week.

Another after check-in vote here. Last year (and first trip home!) when we got to VWL at noon-ish our studio was ready. So we unloaded the luggage and stuff and then the trip out to get the rest of the groceries. I wanted to check out the size of the refrigerator also. Then we headed for the parks. I think it was about 3:00pm then. And we were done for the week that we were there. Will probably do the same thing this year. BTW, we drove last year and will be driving again this year.
