We will be checking in to BC next Saturday. I understand check in is at 3:00. We are driving and have arranged to arrive at around 3:00. I'm now thinking that Saturday is probably one of the busiest check in days and am wondering if we should try to get there a little earlier in order to possibly have a better chance and getting our requests. (nonsmoking, daybed, full balcony) or possibly even an upgrade from our standard room. I also want to get into my room as quickly as possible in order to enjoy most of the remainder of the day at the hotel. Any advice??

We've never checked in any later than 1:00 and have always found a room ready. Even if it's not, the desk should be able to tell you what will be available later that day and set it aside for you. You can leave your bags at the desk until then.

Well, if I was in your shoes, I'd definitely get there earlier. Even if there isn't a room ready when you check in, you can drop your luggage off and head to SAB or explore the resort.

Have fun :wizard: , we'll be there at the end of July!

You have a much better chance of getting your requests if you check in early. Pack accordingly, to get your requests (esp. full balcony), you may need to wait until that room is ready. You can enjoy the pool while they are cleaning your room.

Another vote for getting there earlier. Maybe by noon or so. You can check-in, be dressed to swim or just hang at the pool. Maybe get a quick bite to eat. You can amble on over to Boardwalk for more choices. That way, you can get in the Disney mood, and be ready to get into a room as quickly as possible. You will be more relaxed and ready to hit the parks. Yep, check-in, swim, and eat...then get in your room and unpack and dinner in a park. Sounds like a plan. Have fun!!!

I found that the best way to get an upgrade is to show up early, tell them that you are an extremely patient person and that you will be willing to wait until late afternoon ( 5-6pm) if it means that they can get you an upgrade. Then I would go the parks and just call them from the parks in the late afternoon to check on the room. I think this works by them "holding" an upgraded room open for you early, but they wait to check-in the majority of the guests that booked that category of room, then since you are first in line for an upgrade, if there are empty rooms (which they can better predict by 5pm) you therefore have a good chance of getting the upgrade.

Just wondering.....do people actually ask for an upgrade at checkin?

or do you just make room requests for the type of room that you booked?

ex: standard view but maybe ask for a full balcony

or do you say: If there is an upgrade available, may we please have it?

:teeth:

Thanks everyone...looks like we'll leave earlier Sat. morning to get in around 12 or 1. Thanks so much !!
