Checkin online?

Do most of you check in online? I have never done this before and wondered how it effects room selection. Thanks;)

In my opinion it doesn't really make a difference.

On another note, at SSR a couple of weeks ago, the line for online check in was about 10 people deep and the line for people who didn't check in online was empty.

It has no impact and does not purport to have any impact on room selection (I base that on experience, used it twice and both times my room requests were not met). It simply allows you to check-in quicker.

One of the question when you check in on-line is Expected Arrival Time. We have the first flight out at 6 and we are at the resort by 10'ish. Well now the lucky part. Our room has been ready each time we've done on-line check in. Have a magical trip

I've done the online check in prior to our last 2 BWV stays...March and October 2010 both times our requests were met :goodvibes

Just as an FYI, I was just informed by technical support that BWI and BWV are not connected to online checkin since the reservation system upgrades. I called because I kept getting an error message. She said all other resorts should have no problem.

This may sound like a silly question, but what are the advantages of checking in online versus in person? You still have to wait in line at the resort, don't you? Someone earlier posted that the line for online check-ins was longer than the regular check-in line so I started wondering. When you do online check-in, are you given your room number at that time?

I have used it twice because we arrived SO late. I figured it would lock in my room early (and perhaps have my requests met--they were) rather than being given "what was left" which happened to us in the past. And then, after midnight, it only takes DH a couple minutes. Last year at BWV (though that sounds moot right now), I literally walked toward the check-in, said my name, and they handed me the packet. I never slowed down.

Not sure what I will do in August and I plan to travel on "human time" and not leave on the last flight out of Chicago. I plan to arrive mid-afternoon.

Will continue to monitor things here about the computer system upgrade and requests and such. That might influence my decision.

This makes sense. We're going to GCV next month and arriving around 6:00 or so. I think we'll go ahead and give the online check-in a try to see how well it works.

Are you given your room number right when you check in online, or do you have to wait until you get to the resort to receive it?

We have had mixed results. Sometimes the room is pre-assigned and sometimes it's not. I haven't found that pattern yet for the best results.

No room number until you get there. You can check in some 10-days early. There's no way they'd assign that far out. And, at least until recently, they were assigned by a human, who I would guess did not complete the online check-ins until the actual check-in day. Now that a computer assigns, that might be different, but a human still has to run the key cards and stuff. But the online system doesn't spit out a room assignment. Nor would I expect it to.

We've tried several times to check in online for our upcoming trip (less than 10 days out). It shows that we are eligible to check-in, but we get an error message when we try. Called MS and they said it was just a glitch in the system and shouldn't be a problem if it doesn't work out before we arrive.

That happened to me I was on Microsoft's Explorer I tried Mozilla's Firefox and it work. Something about 32 bit an 64 bit that I don't understand. Now I use Chrome as a web browser. Give it a shot.

Did my on-line check in today for my trip to BWV next week. No problems what so ever and took a grand total of about three minutes.
I have done on-line check in before and I like having my packet ready as soon as I get there. I typically don't make room requests and therefore have yet to be disappointed with a room assignment.
