Checked Baggage/DCL Luggage Tag Change?

We are about to take our first Disney cruise since 2019. I just received the DCL luggage tags and the accompanying paperwork states, “When you arrive in Orlando be sure to proceed to baggage claim and pick up your luggage before meeting the Disney Cruise Line representative who will direct you to your transportation to the port. The enclosed luggage tags should be attached AFTER picking up your luggage from baggage claim.” (I added the Bold lettering, not Disney.)

We’ve taken many Disney cruises before Covid, and put our DCL tags on at home. Once we checked our bags at our home airport, we didn’t see them again until they were delivered to our stateroom. We never had to grab them at the Orlando airport and bring them to the Disney bus area. Has that system been cancelled?

Yes. From what I understand, you now must claim your bags and take them to the DCL bus location.

I think that all changed once Disney ended the Magical Express Service and the associated luggage transfers with that contractor.

No airport pick up of luggage for DCL anymore. Get your bags and then put on tags. Picking up of luggage stopped with covid I believe.

Disney has been cutting back on services in the past two years. You have to get your own luggage.

Actually the company that they contracted with started cut-backs in 2015 and the Pandemic was probably the icing on the cake.

It would be easy to make a list of services that Disney has cut back on over the past few years. This is only one of them.
