SW has finally cracked and lowered their prices on most of their routes for March/April spring breaks. I see some big drops from $299 to $99

Yes!!! Mine dropped!! Now at $318 pp round trip 3/25-4/4!! Was originally at $570 pp on opening day for our dates!!!

I had a feeling Easter week would go way down! Between BUF and MCO: March 20 flights are $107/$114. Return on the day after Easter ranging from $187/$209.

Even though the SW Spring Break flights dropped, it hasn't dropped significantly for us. There is only a $100 difference between SW and the United tickets were already bought. With United, we fly out of our small local airport but with SW we would have to stay in hotel night before and leave our car which will cost a lot more than $100. Hoping next go around we're able to score those real low rates right at the start!

FWIW, there were no low rates for SW from the start. They started pretty much all weekends in March and April at $250+ for most routes.

For us, airfare usually runs between $500 (non holiday/busy travel) to $700 (for holiday travel). That's from a small local airport to connect at a major hub. Our only choice of carriers are United and US Air. Any other we'd have to drive to a major airport and stay over night and park our car for the duration. But at $250 or a little bit more would be worth it for us.

The $250+ that DisDadDVC referred to on opening day was each way! My opening day was $570 roundtrip out of a major airport.....I have never paid more than $325 roundtrip, even during peak holiday. Happy to say I am down to $318 roundtrip per person and have a nice credit to use on Southwest.

Southwest didn't drop near enough for me. We're headed to FLL and when I first looked at Southwest flights for two of us were running $1150 RT from Philadelphia. Not only that, there are almost no non-stops. Tack on the $50 for EBCI (I always use it) and that's $1200. Flights were a little cheaper and more nonstops out of BWI but then I have to factor in the drive down plus a hotel the night before the outbound flight (we get a park and fly rate)...that's another $120.

I ended up booking on American. $720 RT for both out of PHL, nonstop and that includes 2 checked bags and priority boarding. Even today Southwest is still $250 higher than what I paid.

We're going to WDW in January. American was over $1,700 RT for four tix out of PHL. I booked SW non-stop for $972 including EB check-in. I keep checking American just to see if the price drops, best I got so far was $1,586. Glad to have grabbed the SW tix.

I think I missed out on the deal, but SW is still a lot cheaper than the other airlines!
