Check your Sept/Oct Southwest fares

I have a flight out of BDL on 9/25 that I got a while back during the internet specials for $49, but my return flight was only available for the $79 rate so I booked it. I have been checking the Southwest website every day to see if the return flight on Oct 10th will go down. Well, today there was a new promotional rate for $45-$79, but there was only one flight listed as being available for that rate and I was not interested in a flight out of MCO at 6:30am. I decided to call and was able to change my flight to the $49 rate. The difference will be refunded to my credit card after we fly. I am so happy, now my round trip price out of Hartford is just $116. This is the best fare I have ever had.

If you see a good price but the flight you already booked is not listed as being available, don't give up, call and check and maybe you will get a lower rate too.

Those little guys are playing a song in your honor!! Thanks so much for posting that! I had given up hope of getting reasonable -to hubby- prices on flying & resigned to the 14 hr drive. Saw your post, checked & got airfare about $100 cheaper than the lowest I've seen.

Checked today and I will either get a voucher for future travel or a credit on my credit card for our October trip. Management needs to approve either the credit to my CC or credit towards future travel ... I am thrilled - this will go towards our February Trip (yes, I know we are out of hand!!!).

Interesting that you called and were able to do that. I booked our tickets individually (4 of us) originally for a Mon - MOn. When the fares dropped for Tues/WED travel, I changed us to tues - Tues. Last week I notice the lower fares and began changing us back to Mon-MOn. I got through 3 of us and then the lower fare wasn't available! I ended up changing the three I had just changed back to Tues - Tues. LOL! Maybe I'll give a call and see if we can get the lower fares for Mon - Mon.

I changed our flight back from MCO to MHT. and saved $104.00.
We do not fly very often so I would like this money given back to me via my credit card, but Southwest said that they can only give me a credit voucher.
How can I get them to give the credit back on my credit card?

Shelley, thats great information. We are leaving the same day from BDL and I was able to lower our fare from $79 to $49 about a month ago. Our
return trip never decreased until 8/20 it went down to $49 (at
lunch time.) I checked it later in the day and it was back to $79.
Never thought to ask about the lower fare, even when it's not available. Our return flight is 10/9. Thanks for the tip.

You are only eligible for a credit to your credit card - when you fly -if you do not change your flight (times or airports). Otherwise you will get funds that are good to use for 1 year after the date of the original purchase.

It also depends if the ticket you bought was originally non-transferable or non-refundable.

I am thrilled as this was totally unexpected for us. We are saving a total of $240.00. D-Mother-in-law thought that the price I got her originally ($79+) was a great deal. $49+ is just awesome.

cosmo2003, maybe you could call again to get your flight credit back to your credit card. Some of the Southwest agents are more helpful than others. If all else fails, ask to speak with a supervisor or manager. If they do credit your card, it will be after you fly. Good luck.

There have been many people who have had internet specials and the price dropped and they were able to get the savings credited back to their credit cards before the flight. Do a search and you will probably find the number to call.

I was able to get a credit back to my card. I was told as long as my flights stayed the same could receive the credit to my card.
The credit was given before my flight, in fact they told me it would
show up in 7-10 days after requesting it. The thing to do is call
and request a refund, not sure if I would have gotten it if I had not called.
