I noticed that my HRA was going down a bit faster than normal. When I checked the generic pricing list, at my Wegmans pharmacy, they had changed it as of 9/10/13 and 2 of my drugs were no longer on the list. Apparently, they can change this list at any time based on the pricing of the drug market. These are common drugs Pravastatin and Levothyroxine, which had been on the list for a few years. The price went from 4.00 to 17.00 and 27.00 a month. Sam’s and Wal-Mart still have them on their list so I am switching.

My daughters Rx went from being on the $5 generic list to the $9 list and then a few months later without any warning was $169 - full price.

Shop around. I was amazed how different in price different meds can be. My dog is on 3 different meds for seizures. One was $190 at our usually pharmacy and only $60 at Walmart. That is a HUGE difference.

Walmart just updated their lists too. My DS's meds were on the $4 list but when I got them this month they were $7. Not like that is a ton of money but it is nearly double the price.

Just wanted to let you know that Target Pharmacy price-matched the generic $4/month and $10/3 months from Walmart just for asking. They made a note on my account and so far so good. It really stinks that the prices can change without notice at any given time. I really love the Pharmacy staff at my local Target!

I was just going to say this ^. Each store has their own generic list; $4 at one may not be $4 at another. By law in TN, Target (for example) cannot sell a prescription for less than their cost. Price matching is the only way around that. So I get the $4 Walmart list price at Target.

Also, having my dr write them for 90 day supply helps so much. That way I get them for $10, instead of $4 each.

My son's generic antibiotic went from $4 to nearly $200. It was due to supply and demand. The manufacturer got behind in supply so they skyrocketed the cost. :(
