We had a number of items shipped back to our room. Two of them were breakables that arrived in sealed cartons. We thought it was great that they were already in protected for travel and never opened them.

One item was the Mickey Bobblehead Football player. We get home, open the package, and it's the Baseball bobblehead. When we made the purchase, the CM reached into a cabinet and pulled out a sealed carton to replace the figure that we brought to the register. I had no reason to suspect anything.

The next item was a red "Iron Chef" mug. It was the last red mug that they had. All the others were black. This one is a real puzzle. It was wrapped in tons of paper and put in a carton that was definitely used for something else. I just opened it, it's black, not red.:( :( :(

I can't stand it. I'll call Merchandising and see what they can do.

Last month I bought the boxed set of "Four Parks One World" (I think that's what they're called) ornaments at the Christmas store at DD. It had 6 ornaments in there of characters on rides. They seemed pretty safe in the package itself. Had it shipped back to the room. It was in another box with bags stapled around it. I never checked it (I think I peeked just to make sure it was the right thing). Got it home, opened it and Minnie's head was broken off one of the ornaments. They aren't even extremely fragile ornaments (not ceramic or anything). Which is one reason I got these instead of some other ones I originally planned to get. But there's no way for me to know if it broke in transit from DD to the hotel or in transit home.

dizfamily,

Even if you can't be sure when it was broken, call WDW Merchandise - in my experience, they are great about replacing such items. A few years ago, I purchased a pilsner glass at MGM for DH. I had it shipped back to the room, and never opened it until I got home. When I unwrapped it, there was abig chip out of the base of the glass. I called WDW merchandise, and explained what it looked like, and which store I purchased it from and another one was shipped to me to replace it - free of charge.

Also, back when I was about 12 I was at the MK with a friend, and I bought a ceramic figurine of Cinderella for my mother. While walking around the park, I dropped the bag, and the figurine broke. I went back to the store to buy a new one, and it was replaced free of charge, even though I was the one who broke it.

I called Merchandising and they're replacing the bobblehead figure. We get to keep the one that they sent in error.

With Japan and China, it's a different story. They're independent retailers and I'll need to call them directly. The contact phone number is on the receipt, but I think I'll let this one pass. It's a gift for our favorite sushi chef, and I don't think that he'll care what color the mug is. :D

dizfamily, I would definitely call them. They'll ask for the item number. (It was on the receipt.)

All in all, a satisfactory outcome.:D :D :D
