Check your National Car reservations for October!

Try modifing your existing reservation for an intermediate

Did this (almost had an anxiety attack, as with my luck, I would lost my original price!) and came up with a rate of $174; about $5.00 less than what I came up with last night. So, I guess it's about a wash; for a $11 difference, I may as well go with the EA and an intermediate. Gail, what do you think?

I would try modifing it again and change the size of the car. You can do that too. Hopefully, I read your post correctly. :)

My original reservation (April) was for a compact w/rate of $163.92.

I did modify that ressie to price out an intermediate after reading your response, Gail; that total came to $174 (I know this is confusing!).

The $179 total was what I came up with doing a "cold" price check just going to the national website after reading this thread and inserting my dates & selecting an intermediate. I don't know why there is a $5 difference when I just modify the reservation vs starting from scratch.

So my last post is asking do I switch from a compact at a rate of $163 to an intermediate at $174? I'm leaning toward yes.

I would go with the intermediate on the EA (good chance you will get something larger). In the grand scheme of things it will cost you 1.57 more per day. Not too bad.

Hi Gail~
That's what I thought, too. Hey, I see you're getting close to your trip. Have a good time!

I had to post this update! I went back to the national site to modify my ressie for the compact; change to the intermediate at what I THOUGHT was a price of 174.xx. Wrong! The price dropped again! :Pinkbounc I was able to reserve the intermediate using AARP + Entertainmt. coupon for a rate of $158.47!! You bet I booked that as fast as my fingers could type! So that's another $15 drop overnight!

Thanks Nancy. I plan on having a good time. Your trip gets closer everyday also. Have fun planning and I am really happy your rate dropped for you. :)

I don't have DC or Entertainment, but BJ's has a coupon allowing 2 car upgrades if you travel before OCtober 31. I'm going in early to mid November and some kind of discount of $21 was applied using the codes.

I posted about a week ago in this threading noting drop from 169 to 151 for my 9/1-9/8 EA ressie. Thought I'd better recheck on the chance of any other drops in rate.

On my existing ressie, EA/Intermediate, rate was 147.xx

Just on a whim, I checked a new ressie with Emerald Reserve for a full size. It was 147!

For some reason, I couldn't modify the existing ressie and have it come up with 147. Don't remember exactly but the rate may have gone up a little.

Anyway, I entered the new reservation for Reserve and have confirmation for 147 total and cancelled the old.

Anyone know what kind of cars might be on Emerald Reserve?
Thanks,

Sharon
