Cleaning up today I managed to fill an entire paint can with coins and the boyfriend and I took it down to TD bank to cash it all in at the penny arcade. It was over $650! Now our next Disney trip is nearly paid for :)

Over six hundred dollars in loose change lying around the house?!!! Girl you have to clean more often. Congrats on the windfall.

my daughter did this the other day... itunes was running a special, $40 worth of change in a coinstar machine equals a $50 itunes card!!! she got $100 worth of music/movies/tv shows for $80 in coin (some of which she "jacked" from her father, me and her brothers!) ;)

:lmao:

We save our change in a big jar and it takes a whole year to get to $100. OP, I'm happy for you. Enjoy it in good health.

:)

Change really does add up, we tend to collect $800 in 2 years. We recently rolled it all and put it in our Disney account. But to have it all around your house? WOW! You muct have a lot of hiding spots!

:lmao: I was thinking the same thing!! I save all loose change and have been for a few years and still haven't got that much :lmao:

I read this to DH and he doesn't believe it. We take our change in a couple times a year, and it ends up being about $50 each time. How on earth did you have $650?? Good job- but DH thinks you meant to say $65.00. :-)

Hey Virgderon, my No Spend Buddy. :goodvibes That is a lot if you aren't trying for it. We do about $400 a year but it is purposful. If I go to the Dollar Store with the kids and spend $1 plus tax so $1.08 they tell me I can't give the change. We put all change in the Disney Jar and they take it seriously. :rotfl: But we really don't have change all over the place cause we get it and put it right in our jars (one for silver and one for pennies.)

My grandfather used to save all his change in empty cans and Old Spice jars in the basement. When he died, there was nearly $15,000! My Nana made it an even $15k and each of the 3 grandkids got $5,000 for college savings.

Do you watch Clean House? On this year's Messiest Home (and I am not trying to say OP has a messy house...) they found a ton of money when cleaning. I think it was over a thousand...

Wow!! I bet that was a surprise!!

Some of it I found in drawers and under carpets but a lot of it i'd had already put into multiple jars from years ago. I had no idea it would add up to this much though. Definitely a nice surprise. It was so heavy that we had to take a cab over to the bank. :lmao:

WOW! Good going for both of you! We save spare change also. Mostly just for our Disney trips. I've got a bag going now and will be cashing it in for our December trip but I doubt I will be anywhere near your amount. :) Our middle son (21) hates spending singles so I always tell him if he can't put them away (they're all over his bathroom and bedroom) they're going to show up missing! One evening friends were over and we had the kids count how much $$ he had in singles...............it was over $200! One of these days its going to be finders keepers!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Why not use your found money to buy a car? You had 'multiple' jars of money laying around the house? Incredible!

well, you go girl, that is $$$ you have and less of it you needed to budget:worship:. Thanks for sharing... I know we have change that adds up to a lot when we take it in, sometimes, it's $100.00 and the last time it was like $300 for like 6 months:cool1:

maybe you could have used the change to hire a maid service. sounds like you might need it.

That is fabulous! We save most of the change we get when paying cash and take it to the bank every 6 months or so. Never that much, but as you said you had years' worth in jars which you had never taken in... I bet it was HEAVY!!! Enjoy spending it!

Money is the only thing I miss about not doing my 3 DD's laundry no more. I used to find 20.00 or more a week in the washer or dryer not in change but mostly bills. I'd take it if they come looking for it I gave it back if they did not miss it well finders keepers. They sometimes lost money in couch too but not to often somehow I never found much there or just laying around but then I did not go in their rooms looking either.

DH an I use all our change many weeks if not we'd be running out of money way to early in the week.

My oldest has always saved change could prolly come up with enough pennys to pay for a family of 4 to have a very nice disney vacation. That does not include her nickles dimes an quarters.... she's now past 30.

DH an I used to make our youngest clean the change out of her purse every few weeks she'd have 70.00 or more in quarters in it among other change we was worried sbout the weight. Then I got to thinking she had a heck of a weapon there is she ever needed it. " Officer I did not mean to kill him he tried to rape me an I hit him with my purse" lol So I let her be.....

My mom used to buy my school books with pennys they was rolled an if school wanted to count them as she paid they was welcome to. Parents always spent about the same amount every yr for christmas too an that was done with change as well.

I watch this show all the time. And I did see this particular show. She had jars/cans of coins everywhere in the house, loose change everywhere in the house, she had $1,$5,$10,$20 bills etc, all over the house (and I mean loose). At the end they actually had over $5000 in loose cash!!!

I just recently started saving my change. I put it in a jar. Well, last weekend it got about 3/4 full (and I needed some groceries until I got my first check for the school year lol) so I brought it down to the bank and got $89.60 (not bad for a couple months worth!!!) Then I headed down to the grocery store and believe it or not, the groceries came up to $89.60 ON THE NOSE!!! I was shocked. I figured my luck was pretty good that day....I went and bought a lottery ticket but didn't win. LOL

But I have now started putting my change in the jar again. Whenever I pay for something with cash, I don't use any change. I will give them all bills just so I can get the change to add to my jar. I'm using a bigger jar this time. So now I'm curious at how much will fit in it. Guess I'll find out in about a year. lol
