check your homes for spare change! :)

I did this recently too, but when I took the rolls to the bank, the teller looked at me like I had three heads and had me empty all of the rolls into their coin-counting machine. :confused3

:rotfl: Years ago the credit union I was with had me write my account number on my rolls, but they still accepted them (I guess to track it back to me if my rolls were incorrect). Then, one day I went in and they had a new coin counting machine and told me to use it. Well, there were no instructions and I put all of my money where I thought it was supposed to go and nothing happened. Well, I put it in the wrong spot and had to move it all of it handfuls at a time. Ugh!

Luckily I use a different bank now, and they accept rolled coins, although you can't do it at the regular teller counter. I guess only a few of us still roll our coins old school style

That is a LOT of change!

I use my change.....it is easier for me to have $80-$200 transfered per month into an ING account marked "Disney" than to have to roll money or deal with change at all.

Dawn

We do this too...we have money transferred each payday into ING. However we still collect change too. :thumbsup2

Many people don't need a car. Rather than pay for a car, gas, insurance, wear and tear, tires, batteries, wiper blades etc, it's cheaper in the long run to walk, bike, bus or on occasion taxi it.

Yup. :thumbsup2 I actually live downtown in the city and am a nondriver. I walk everywhere so a car would not be of any use to me.

Anyway, just a few hundred dollars more and our vacation is paid off. So awesome. I can't wait til February :woohoo:

I used to be really good with saving change, now I NEVER carry cash so I don't really end up with change. I need to get back to it though because it was fun to watch the jar fill and then when we would cash it in we would love the surprise when we found out how much was in there. I had a $230 jar once (the most we ever saved in one) and we gave it to the kids for the Disney trip that year. ;)

I am going to cash in my change jar this week for my MNSSHP trip this weekend. I dont expect much, but we also do the Save the change program through our bank when we use our debit card. If I ever have to leave a tip or get gas I always make it .01 so we get .99cents in our extra savings acct. We can transfer money between our accts. with no fee so we save up until we need it or want to buy something. The other day we transferred $67 into our acct.

Great find and I hope Febuary comes soon for you!!!
