If you have Geico for auto insurance, check your auto policy to make sure that Geico isn't automatically charging you for their "emergency road service" when you don't want it. I just got our renewal and I noticed $18.80 in charges for this on our 6 month premium. It turns out that I'd been paying that since we switched to them last year! They took it off this renewal, but they wouldn't backdate the refund even though I NEVER wanted this service. The customer service person said that it was quoted to me with the original policy, and if I didn't object then it got added. I don't recall this at all, since I would have declined it if I had known that it was being included. It's an automatic unless you ask for it to be removed!! I'm so ticked since we have AAA already and we don't need Geico's emergency road service too. I hope that this helps someone to save some money on something that they might not even know that they're paying for.

I called Geico and it (roadside assistance) is covered on our 2006 Ford but not on the 1993 'Mater-mobile--you know the one that is most likely to break down. Go figure.

I've had Geico for 15 years now (with the roadside service) and it has always been listed on the options/declarations page. Sorry you missed it but legally it has to be disclosed and I am sure that it was.

Cheaper for me than AAA. Luckily I have only had to use it once and received fantastic service.

I had cancelled it on my cars. When I called to put the new car on the policy, they automatically included it without telling me (this is a brand new under warranty car). When the declarations came in the mail, I noticed the roadside and called Geico. hey took it off as of the time I called and refused to credit me for the five days it was on. The rep had the gall to tell me I requested it. :furious:

No doubt it was listed, but we never noticed it until this renewal. Since we hadn't requested it, we weren't looking for it. Our mistake. I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention in case other people also missed it on their policies.

With any insurance company you should ALWAYS check your declarations page when they send it to you. Make sure that what you want is there and want you don't want isn't. It is very plainly listed out with the price next to it. It is shocking how many people never even glance at it.
