Check your fares everyday!

Just a word of advice if you fly SW.

I originally booked a one way flight from BWI to MCO for June 12 for $109 each. I was very happy with that. I held off for a while on booking the return flight on June 22 and when I finally did, the price was $300 per person. I was not too happy with that, but it was the time we needed and it had been that price for 2 months, so I bit the bullet and purchased it.

In the meantime, I have been checking that flight everyday-sometimes 4x a day- to see if the cost had come down. Well lo and behold, 10 mins ago my flight dropped to $162 a person! I immediately changed my flight and was refunded $414 to use on a future trip. We are planning on heading back down to TPA in September, so I will use that money for that flight. Anyway, after I finished changing my flight, I went back in to check the prices again and that same flight popped back up to $257!!

So glad my perseverance paid off. I will continue to keep checking- maybe only 2x a day- to see if I can get an even lower rate.

I keep checking every day too. We're flying (also out of BWI) and I keep kicking myself! We're thinking of going in March, and a couple of weeks ago, the flights were about $150 each way or so. Now going down it's $162, which for spring break I can live with. The return flight has been sitting at $300 now for a couple of weeks. We've never paid so much for that flight!

I know that the days of $79 each way are gone now, long gone (sniff sniff - since I took many little bonus trips to Disney on those deals) but almost $500 round trip is nuts! I'm just waiting now - but really it's only 6 weeks away so don't know if it'll come down. We need nonstop, as I don't want to come home at midnight or something!

I feel like singing like Dory (Finding Nemo) "Just keep checking, just keep checking"....

This airfare may be a deal breaker for me, so if you're listening, Southwest Airlines, $300 one way is just too much for me to swallow.

Just checked this morning! Of course Tuesday the fares can come down (if they are going to do so) and it's down about $200 per person from yesterday.

Once again, thanks OP for the reminder to keep checking! I found a fare I can live with so booked it! Of course if it comes down, I'll get the credit (and once again start another file to keep track of it!).

I keep checking and hoping for our March trip that we end up finding a deal. But so far I haven't been able to find anything that would convince me to buy plane tickets instead of drive. Tickets out of the Houston area are like $480 round trip right now. I have even checked flying into Tampa or Jacksonville and they are just as expensive if not more. Also tried flying out of Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio. No luck there either. Looks like we are going to have to buck up and drive.

I had already checked this morning, and check most days on our June flights. They have done nothing but go up, but decided to check again after lunch due to this thread. I just got 3472 points put back in my account!

If last year's June prices are any indication, they could go cheaper yet, but I am pretty happy with what I have so far. Would love to snag some 3960 pt one-ways like I saw last year though.

I LOVE BOOKING AND CHANGING WITH POINTS!!! We probably wouldn't use a credit in time, so getting points refunded for whenever is fabulous.
