When I checked out on 8/25 I looked at my bill and it seemed a little high so I asked the front desk person to recheck my bill. She gave me the nightly rates and we both added them up. There was a $223 discrepency. The cast member (Alma) was great. I cannot express how courteous and professional she was. Especially for being 5am. She took a long time with me trying to find the problem.

The nightly rates were all correct, but only added up to around $700 dollars but the bill was for 925. After a few minutes, Alma found the problem.
I was in the 100 loop. But the 100 loop was supposed to close for renovations while I was there. So they were going to move us to the 700 loop in the middle of our stay. When they didn't move us, They still charged us the 223 for the "upgrade" to the 700 loop that never happened.

I told Alma that I didn't ask for an upgrade, so why would they charge me the additional money, even if I did end up moving. She said it was a matter of accounting. I was not actually supposed to be charged the higher rate. Only on paper, then they were supposed to adjust the reservation before billing the credit card. It was some type of clerical error.

Alma fixed the error, credited my credit card the 223 dollars, and I was on my way. So make sure you check your bill if you are offered a free upgrade. Make sure it ends up being free.

AND YES, I am the same guy that had his golf cart charger stolen the night before ! This trip was a one problem after another for us !!! I bet they were happy to see us leave.

Wow John! :goodvibes

Seems you had enough adventures for one trip. I sympathize with you my friend.

Have a cold one, relax, and plan your next vacation somewhere else. :surfweb:

We had an issue with one of our stays this summer. We had two reservations for our 14 night stay. We checked out and checked back in. I was paying cash, which Disney really does not like in reality. I told them that I would have to check out early because of an issue with my son's Dr. appt. That could not be changed and they said no problem and supposedly charged me only the nights I was staying. After my bank called me asking why there was such a large hold on my account from Disney on my debit card (the card I put the deposit on), I went down to see what the hell was going on. Disney's computers "automagically" put. The balance of my reservation on my card in which the deposit was made. Needless to say I was livid because I had taken the money out and there was the money in the bank to pay bills, but now on hold. Plus to add insult to it all, when I checked out early, I find out I had to pay all the days in cash and they refunded me my deposit on my bank card. Who would have thought it would be so difficult to pay in cash????

Disney doesn't like cash because it's harder to impulsively overspend on your vacation. Might not be as apt to drop $200 at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique.

I've been overcharged at WDW like that too. Stayed hotel once since a friend was going and got a room to get free dining instead of camping.
I booked an extra night for myself and a friend who was on his first WDW trip. We were booked at POP Century but I had my TA book an extra night in a regular room at WL. Thought my buddy would trip when we pulled up there, didn't tell him that's where we were going.
When we got to the guard shack, the guard checked the reservation and said 'you've been upgraded to concierge, top floor of the lodge!' Yay!, possibly one of those year of a million dreams things which was the promotion at the time.
Had a great stay, free drinks, food and one of the only rooms at WL with a perfect view of the castle through a notch in the trees.
Next morning, the bill came. $130 higher than what I had reserved. They forgot to remove the 'upgrade' charge for concierge. It was taken care of immediately by the concierge on duty that morning without having to leave the floor, no fuss, no problem getting it fixed. Like you said, for accounting purposes.
As a side note, not sure I would pay for concierge out of pocket, it made the room over $400 per night!:scared1: But it was cool to see the expression on my buddy's face when we pulled up to this gargantuan lodge like we were at Yellowstone!:thumbsup2

Alma IS very professional! One of the long-term Fort CM's.

Now you know why I never put charging privileges on my KTTW card. I had a similar situation at POFQ back in the early 90's. Not a room upgrade charge, but was charged a quantity of 4 breakfasts on one morning. There's only 2 of us - always has been. DH & I ordered the same breakfast at Bonfamile's, but got charged for 4. Getting it straightened out took time away from our plans for the day, so they gave us coupons for 2 ice cream treats good at any park. Wow! How generous!

I always pay my site off before arrival, or pay the balance in cash at arrival, and I do not keep a credit card on file for charging purposes.

It keeps them from making mistakes with my money.

For our July stay I had 2 accounting errors. First, I had charge card for both sites and was told it was just a hold & we could pay cash later in the stay. Then I find that instead of a hold they actually charged the card for both sites (my sister was going to pay cash for her site, so this really messed stuff up since I now have to deposit money to checking to pay credit card bill, but oh wait, I don't have a local bank. I live in FL and account is in TX) I also got the internet router, which is a $125 HOLD on account. They also charged me for this. It wasn't until after check-out that we realized this & had to get a refund on the credit card. Accounting errors happen, but they are a pain in the hiney.
