Check your Airtran flights - mine changed

For those who have flights on Airtran - go check your itineraries. We are flying in August and I just checked the flights and ours have changed. Our flight down is the same but the flight back has changed. We now leave 3 hours earlier and connect through Atlanta. We were supposed to be nonstop. I checked the flights for our days and they have completely eliminated one of the nonstop flights each way. The reason we booked Airtran was for the nonstop flights. It was more expensive than AA and USAIR but we wanted to avoid the connection hassle. There is still one nonstop listed for the way back so I think I'll try to give them a call and see if they will switch us to that.

This has been the one thing shying me away from Airtran... I have October non-stop flights out of MSP and they have not changed, but I am going into this expecting them to change. Hopefully they don't mess with the non-stop and I will deal with the time changes... hopefully they are in my favor!

You should call and get them to change you to the other non-stop flight. They should do it without any issue.

I hope you can change your flights to a non-stop.. I picked airtran for the same reason I have a nonstop both ways and hope to keep that cause we are flying with 2 kids for the first time. I have heard on these boards that Airtran tends to change their flight times a lot.

If they do change I hope its our flight back since we leave at 9:50am.... didnt think about it but that is really early!

Just an update... I called Airtran and they changed us to the earlier nonstop, no problem. We now leave 4 hours earlier than our original flight but at least it's nonstop. The connection flight was 3 1/2 hours earlier so either way we had to leave earlier. I'll keep checking my itinerary and who knows, maybe they'll add a later nonstop before we go. I can hope, can't I?

Yes, but it depends on the fare class you buy as to whether you can get "advanced" seat assignment. The cheapest fairs offer seat assignment at check in, which can be 24 hours in advance on the internet. You are assigned seats at that time and can change them to other open seats.

I have been watching our flight times and they have been bouncing all over the place. When I booked my flight we were scheduled to leave IAD at 1:14 PM and arrive at 3:24 PM Nonstop. As of today it leaves IAD at 2:08 PM and arrives at 4:28 pm non-stop. I have yet to receive any notices from Airtran about these changes? Not only has the times changed the flight is now 10 min longer??
