I booked a cruise on the Dream and for some reason my son's passport and Castaway Cay numbers were not found my the Disney website, even though the rest of ours were. I called the next day to make sure they had them, and made no other changes to our reservation, and later in the afternoon, I just happened to go back to our cruise reservation on the website and there was a $50 balance due on the account! When I called, they explained that it had been automatically added from that phone call, and then proceeded to remove it.

I am assuming this would have just been charged to my card at some point and think it is seems sneaky to add that to the account. There was never a mention of a charge when I was talking to DCL on the phone. Odd that his info was missing, as nothing was changed from his previous several cruises, then not cool to have a charge just show up. I'm glad I looked. Given DCL's history of adding charges to your card AFTER the cruise without notifying you (i.e. $300 pillows) it just seems underhanded and unprofessional.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up!

Your post didn't say, did you take pillows from your stateroom?

I think OP is talking about before the cruise. It's possible, if OP is close to their cruise date, that the system recognized the change as a new person (name change) and charged for that. I know DCL charges for name changes within a certain time period of a cruise.

Nope, no name change, he's been on several cruises with the same name and numbers. We didn't take a stateroom pillow (not sure why anyone would want that at home after it's been handled and laid on by lord knows how many people), but more than a couple posted on here how they were charged for it well after their cruise, and never had a chance to prove it was there when they left the stateroom for the last time. Same goes for blankets, laundry bags and wave phones. There's been a few threads about it in the not so distant past.

They really didn't explain why the charge appeared, but they did remove it. It was after my paid in full status, so if I hadn't bothered just to check my info one more time, I never would have known it existed. Just wanted to alert others so they don't get caught by the same DCL "mistake."

Nope, no name change,
I'm not saying there was a name change. Just that the DCL computer might have recognized the added information you made as a name change. Name changes close to the cruise do have a charge. Yes, it was a mistake, and DCL removed it when you pointed it out.

I would assume that DCL does this regularly and would anticipate such a computer glitch. The CM making the change should have seen the new charge and removed it. Highly doubt this was a singular occurrence.

Well it seems like your mind is made up, and a reasonable alternative is simply impossible.
